(Cl. 2-1s0 My present invention relates to neckwear and more particularly to an ornamental clasp which may be employed as a substitute for the knot of a conventional four-in-hand tie.

An object of the invention is to provide an ornamental clasp that may be applied to the neckband or collar of a conventional sportswear shirt as a substitute for a conventional four-in-hand necktie.

Another object of the invention is to provide an ornamental clasp that may be used with the neckband of a conventional shirt and positioned firmly between the meeting ends of a collar which may .be used either alone or in conjunction with a depending fabric as a substitute for a four-in-hand necktie.

Another object of the invention is to provide an ornamental clasp having a metallic backing with an ornamental non-metallic ornamental front face with means for attachment to the closed neckband of a shirt and worn as a substitute for the knot of a four-in-hand necktie having means by which different depending fabric members of complementary design may be interchangeably used with the clasp.

Another object of the invention is to provide an ornamental clasp which may be used with a choker-type tie band as an ornament without a depending necktie simulating member.

Other objects and advantages will be in part evident to those skilled in the art and in part pointed out hereinafter in the accompanying description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, wherein there is shown by way of illustration and not of limitation a preferred embodiment of the invention.

FIGURE 8 is a fragmentary side view of a fabric equipped with a snap fastener for use with the clasps as shown in FIGURES 5 and 6 of the drawing.

Reference is now made to the drawing wherein FIG- URES 1, 2 and 3 show an ornamental ensemble of particular design for use with the collar of a conventional sports shirt. As shown in these figures, the numeral 10 designates the collar portion of a conventional sports shirt 11 having

12 and 13 between which I have shown my invention in the form of an ornamental clasp member 14 with a depending fabric tie simulating portion 15 attached thereto.

The ornamental clasp 14 as shown in FIGURES 2 and 3 of the drawings may have a facing 16 in the form of a polished semi-precious stone or an ornamental member of any suitable design which may take any form or character of appropriate size. The ornamental clasp 14 has a metallic backing 17 to which there is applied a hook forming member 18 that is secured throughout its length to the metallic backing member 17. This hookforming member 18 is formed with a depending hook 19 of sufiicient length and design to substantially and fully encompass the neckband at the front of the shirt 11 between the

12 and 13 thereof. Its lower end member 18 is turned upwardly to form a hook 20 to which the depending fabric member 15 is applied when being used with the clasp 13, the understanding being that the clasp 13 with its ornamental front facing 16 may be used with or without the depending fabric tie simulating member 15.

In FIGURES 4, 5 and 6 of the drawing there is shown a modified form of the invention in which the ornamental clasp here designated by the numeral 21 is adapted for use with a neckband 22 that may be used by a woman as an ornamental choker, or by a man with a shirt without the conventional collar 10 as shown in FIGURE 1. In this modification, the clasp 21 has an ornamental facing 23 which may be of a polished semi-precious stone or similar ornament mounted in a metallic backing 24, which may be of bronze or semi-precious metal such as gold, silver, and/or plated metal. The .backing 24 has a loop member 25 secured thereupon through which the neckband 22 or a belt may be passed. In this instance at the lower end of the loop 25 the backing 24 is shown as having a portion 26 of a snap fastener that is adapted and arranged to support a suspended member such as the tie piece 27 of FIGURE 4, when the device is used in simulation of a four-in-hand necktie. For association with the clasp 13 as shown in FIGURE 1, the necktie piece 15 is shown in FIGURE 7 as having a grommet 28 that may be easily passed over the hook 20 at the back of the clasp as described. For use with the snap fastener portion 26 the tie piece 27 is shown in FIGURE 8 as carrying a complementary snap fastening portion 29. With these arrangements, it will be seen that the

15 or 27 and it will be understood that the use of the hook 20 or the snap fastener 26 as shown in the drawings may be reversed for use with the clasp 14 of FIGURE 1 or the clasp 21 of FIGURE 4.

While I have, for the sake of clearness and in order to disclose my invention so that the same can be readily understood, described and illustrated a specific form and arrangement, I desire to have it understood that this in vention is not limited to the specific form disclosed, but may be embodied in other ways that will suggest themselves to persons skilled in the art. It is believed that this invention is new and all such modifications thereof as come within the scope of the appended claim are to be considered as part of this invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

Inan ornamental neckwear ensemble for sports shirts having an attached collar, a combination of a mounting member of ornamental outline, a semi-precious polished stone carried by said mounting member, a unitary onepiece support comprising an upper member, an intermediate member and a lower member, said upper member comprising a rearwardly curved portion and a downwardly extending portion parallel with said intermediate member and forming a shirt collar band engaging hook having a length sufficient to encompass the neckband of a shirt, said lower member being shorter than said hook and comprising a rearwardly curved portion and an upwardly extending portion in substantial alignment with said downwardly extending portion of said upper member, said intermediate portion being attached to the central rear portion of said mounting member, and a depending tie fabric member having a grommet mounting said fabric member on said lower member, whereby when;
