GOLF TEE HOLDER AND DISPENSER Filed Aug. 10, 1964 I NVENTOR.
WILL/AM R. HILL v BY BARB/1B4 J. HILL United States Patent 3,252,615 GOLF TEE HOLDER AND DISPENSER William R. Hill and Barbara J. Hill, both of 18041 Virginia Drive, Los Gatos, Calif.
Filed Aug. 10, 1964, Ser. No. 388,542 3 Claims. (Cl. 221-82) This invention relates to a golf tee. holder and dispenser that is adapted to be attached to the handle of a golf cart.
An object of thisinvention is to provide an improved golf tee holder and dispenser.
Still another object of this invention is to provide an improved golf tee holder and dispenser that is eflicient in use and may be economically manufactured.
A further object of this invention is to provide a golf tee holder and dispenser that may be attached to the handle of a golf cart so that it is conveniently available to the golfer and is easy to use in that it readily dispenses the golf tees without the user having to pry the golf tees therefrom.
Still another object of this invention is to provide an improved golf tee holder and dispenser that is provided with a rotatable turret structure in which a plurality of golf tees is disposed radiating from the center thereof so that said golf tees may be presented one after another to a dispensing opening'provided in the turret housing.
Other and further objects of this invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art to which it relates from the following specification, claims and drawing, in which, briefly:
FIG. 1 is a view in side elevation of the golf tee holder and dispenser of this invention supported on the handle of a golf cart; and
FIG. 2 is an exploded view showing the parts of which this device is constructed.
Referring to the drawing in detail, reference numeral 10 designates a housing formed of a substantially circular planar member having a laterally extending flange around the circumference thereof in which there is provided a dispensing opening 10a through which the golf tees are dispensed out of the .housing.
A divider plate 17, which may be made out of metal.
such as aluminum, or plastic such as polyethylene, is provided with a central planar member and a laterally ext tending flange. The flange of member 17 is recessed at 17:: by a plurality of substantially equally spaced recesses for receiving a plurality of golf tees, as shown in FIG. 1. The member 17 is provided with a centrally disposed hole 171) which is positioned over the hole 101; of member 10 when these parts are assembled, and the screw 15 is inserted into these holes. The Washer 16, which has a shoulder 16a, is positioned over the screw 15 so that the shoulder 16:: thereof extends into the hole 10!]. This shoulder is slightly longer than the thickness of the material out of which the member 10 is made, and the outer ice A pressure plate 18, which may be of material such as aluminum or plastic, is positioned over the central area of the divider plate 17. The central hole 18a of the plate 18 is aligned with the central hole 17b of plate 17. The member 19, which is of a diameter such that the pressure plate 18 fits therein, is provided thereover, and the recesses 19a in the peripheral flange thereof receive the pointed ends of the golf tees, which are adapted to be inserted into these recesses to engage the underside of the concave central part of the member 19 and the top of the pressure plate 18. The member 19 is provided with a central hole, 19b, which is of a size to receive the shank 20b of the knob 20, which is made of material such as aluminum. This knob is provided with a threaded hole that is adapted to receive the screw 15, and the shank 20b is long enough to extend through this device toward the head of the screw 15. Thus, when this knob 20 is tightened on the screw 15, the parts 17, 18 and 19 are clamped together, and the central area around the hole 17b of part 17 is clamped against the shoulder 16a of the washer 16. Thus, the turret parts 17, 18 and 19 are held together by the screw 15 and knob 20, and the turret may be. rotated by gripping the knurled portion 20:: of the knob, whereby different ones of the golf tees carried thereby may be presented to the dispensing opening 10a of the outer member or housing 10 during use of this device.
This device alsomay be provided with a clamp 11 that is adapted to be riveted or otherwise attached to the housing 10. This member 11 may be clamped around the golf cart handle 14 by inserting the screw 12 in the holes provided in the clamp 11 therefor and tightening the nut 13 to clamp the member on the golf cart handle.-
While we have shown a prefer'redembodirnent of the invention, it will be understood that the invention is capable of variation and modification from the form shown so that its scope should be limited only by the scope of the claims appended hereto.
What we claim is:
1. In a golf tee holder and dispenser that is adapted to be supported on the handle of a golf cart, the combination comprising a planar member having a hole substantially in the center thereof, means attached to one side of said member for attaching said member to the handle of a golf cart, said member having a flange extending laterally to the other side thereof from the circumference thereof, said flange having a golf tee dispensing opening, a second member having a hole formed substantially in the center thereof, pivoting means positioned in said holes attaching said second member to said first member so that said second member is rotatable in said first member, said second member having a laterally extending flange around the circumference thereof, said flange of said second member having a plurality of golf tee receiving recesses, said second member being of substantially smaller diameter than said first member, each of the recesses in said recessed flange being large enough to receive the body of the golf tee so that the head of the golf tee is positioned inthe space between the flanges of said members, a third member positioned on said second member, said third member overhanging the central part of said second member for receiving therebetween the pointed end parts of the golf tees positioned in said recesses, said last-mentioned attaching means holding said second and said third members together in fixed relation, and said last-mentioned attaching means including a finger-engaging knob manually rotating said second member and said third member together with respect to said first member to bring the heads of said golf tees in sequence, one after the other, into alignment with the dispensing opening in said first-mentioned flange.
2. In a golf tee holder and dispenser that is adapted to be supported on the handle of a golf cart, the combination as set forth in claim 1, further characterized in that said third member which overhangs the central part of said second member is provided with a flange with tee-receiving recesses aligned with the recesses in the flange in said second member so that when the tees that said last-mentioned attaching means includes a threaded member extending said members, a spacing washer on said threaded member providing suflicient spac ing between said first mentioned member and said second member to permit rotation of said second member with respect to said first-mentioned member, and said knob being threaded to said threaded member.
