Examples are sodium silicates having an Na O to S ratio of 1:2.35, 1:2.5, 1:3.2, 1:2.0, 1: 1.6 and 1 :1. In general, it is preferred that the builder salts be primarily the poly phosphates so as to avoid the high alkalinity ordinarily produced by substantial amounts of silicates.
