SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 324,194, dated August l1, 1885.

Application led March 23, 1885.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, IsAAc VAN KURAN, of Omaha, in the county of Douglas and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and Improved Nut-Lock, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description. e

.This inventionrelates to certain new and useful improvements in theuut-lock for which United States Letters Patent N o. 17 3,569 were issued to me on the 15th day of February, 1876; and the object of myinvention isto hold the two parts forming the nut-lock together, so that they cannot become detached or separated while using or handling the same.

The invention consists in the combination, with a base-plate having lips or ledges at the corners, of a top plate over the corners of which the lugs are bent to hold the plates together.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specication, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the gures.

Figure l is a face view of my improved nutlock. Fig. 2 is a face View of the Vinner side of the same. Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional View ofthe same on the line x x, Fig. l. Fig. 4. is a cross-sectional view of the same on the line y y, Fig. 2.

The base-plate A has its corners out oft' diagonally, and on the said diagonal edges lips or ledges B are formed, which all project from the same side of the plate. The plate A has a central aperture, G. The top plate, D, also has its corners eut off diagonally, and has a (Model.)

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. In a washer for locking nuts, the combination, with abcd-plate having lips or ledges at the corners, of a top plate over the corners of which the lips or ledges are bent, substantially as herein shown and described.

v2. In a washer for locking nuts, the combination, with a base-plate having lips or ledges at the corners, of a top plate having diagonal beveled edges, over which the lips or edges on the base-plate are bent, substantially as herein shown and described.

3. In a washer, the combination, with a base-plate having the corners cut off diagonally,and lugs or ledges on said diagonal edges, of a top plate having the corners cut oli' diagonally, the lips or ledges on the base-plate being bent over the diagonal edges of the top plate, substantially as herein shown and described.
