-Be it known that I, IVILLIAM It. PRTME, the former of which have their ends or points a citizen of the United States, residing at turned out, and, when the tube isinsertedinto Richford, in the county of Franklin and State the neck or tube G, are sprung into the notches of Vermont, have invented certain new and c c to retain rit in place. The two latter 55 useful Improvements in NursingBottles, of prongs, d', have their ends turned in against which the following is a specification, to wit: the rubber tube, and over the collar DL is This invention relates to animprovement in screwed a ring, D, which, on being screwed nursing-bottles, and it consists in certain pedown, forces these prongs in upon the tube,
1e culiarities ofthe construction and arrangement thus compressing it, and enabling the dow of 6c of the same, substantially as will be hereinafmilk to be accurately and positively conter more fully set forth and claimed. trolled.
In order to enable others skilled in the art In use the lower portion ofthe bottle is filled to which my invention apperlains to make wholly or partially with milk, and the parts and use the same, I will now proceed to dethen secured together, as already explained. 65 scribe its construction and operation, refer- The rubber tube D is then inserted through ringto the accompanying drawings, inwhich the neck of the bottle till it enters the milk,
Figure 1 is a side elevation, and Fig. 2 a and secured in place by the points d, while the central vertical section,of my improved bottle; others are compressed upon the tube to con- 2o and Figs. 8 and fi are details ofthe saine. trol the new of milk. It will thus be seen that 7o A representsanursery-bottle, ofglass or any the bottle is readily taken apart for thorough other suitable material. This bottle is formed cleansing, is secured perfectly tight when in two parts, divided transversely at or ncar joined together, and, should the bottle be upits center, and the upper portion formed with set, the contents fall into the upper half, and

The outer surface of the gases arising therefrom and from the breath lower portion of the bottle is formed with a of the infant, is absolutely necessary to prescrew-thread, and the joint is surrounded by serve the health of the user, and this is acconr a ring, B, also threaded, and provided with a plislied by the open neck O. The rubber tube 5 flange, U, to engage the shoulder c. Vhen D does not fill this neck, and space is left 85 the two parts of the bottle are placed together around itthrough which the air passes in and and the ring screwed up, the joint is drawn out. This accomplishes the object perfectly, rmly together and held watertight, as indiand keeps the liquid sweet and pure at all cated in the drawings. The upper part of the times. IVhile I prefer to use glass in the conbottle is formed or provided with a hollow struction of this bottle, I do not desire to con- 90 central stem or neck, C, running down through fine myself to this material, but wish to use the interior to or past the joint between the 'any other material found suitable to the purtwo parts, and which is .open at both ends, pose. and at its upper end or base this neck or tube The lower portion of the bottle is marked is upon the inside formed with two small or provided in any way desired with a series 95 notches, c c, the purpose of which will bcpresof graduates, in, which serve asa guide in mixeutly explained. ing given quantities of different liquids used The rubber tube D is of the usual form, and in combination for nourishment.
