UNiTnn STATES ATEN'r FFICEQ HARRY LOWE, OF MONTPELIER, VERMONT.
NOSE-BAND FOR OVERDRAW-CHECKS FOR BRIDLES.
SE E'JIPICATION forming part of Letters Patent No; 319,916, dated June 9, 1885.
' Application filed March 19, 1885. (No model.)
device that is perfectly secure in any position,
and which can be put on or taken off in a moments time, and that can be easily and quickly adjusted, so that the driver can fit it to the horse he is driving by lowering it on the check-rein so that the band will come across holes in the check-rein at different points the band can be fixed in any position'desired.
It is necessary that the leather band be something in the shape of a crescent or half-circle, in order to have the band and check fit well to the horses head, and when the nose-band is taken off it leaves the check-rein in just as good shape as though no attachment had been made.
In the drawings, Ais the leather portion of the adjustable nose-band of a crescent shape, except the ends are left a little wider than the check-rein, instead of coming to a point.
b b are devices made of metal in pairs, one to be attached to each end of the leather band by rivets. The devices have hooks near each end, and are so made thatwhen they are fastened onto the leather band the hooks nearest each end of the leather band turn outward or downward, while the hooks on the opposite ends turn inward toward each other or upward.
O is the tongue of these devices, midway between the hooks, which is to pass through the hole in the check-rein.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of the leather band A with the metallic devices b b,adapted for attachment to the straps of an overdraw-check, as and for the purposes set forth.
HARRY LOWE.
