Description

July 27, 1965 YASUKI KOREISHI STEEL BAND SHIFTING DEVICE Filed Nov. 26, 1962 INVENTOR YASUKI KoREIsin BY 2A? Mm, M
ATTORNEY United States Patent 3,197,154 STEEL BAND SHlFTING DEVECE Yasnlri Koreishi, Hitachi, Japan, assignor to Hitachi Limited, Tokyo, Japan, a corporation of Japan Filed Nov. 26, 1962, Ser. No. 240,046 Claims priority, application Japan, Nov. 27, 1961, 36/42,126 3 Claims. (Cl. 242-79) The present invention relates to improvements in a device for shifting an empty spool and a coil wound spool in a reversible rolling mill and the like.
T he device of the invention can be well adapted to a reversible rolling mill which is located at the central position and a winding device is provided on each side of the rolling mill to effect rolling operations, that is, once rolled strip is operated into the opposite direction by the reversed rotation of the press rolls to deliver the strip to the opposite direction for effecting the rolling again.
In a conventional coil shifting device, usually called a block type, a spool before rolling and after completing the rolling and also a coil wound spool have been transported by means of a crane so that it involved trouble in transporting empty spools and coil wound spools and also it accompanied dangers in carrying them by a crane.
The object of the invention is to obviate the above troubles and dangers accompanying to the transportation and taking out spools and coil wound spool by providing a turn table at middle position of the transporting stroke for carrying out the spool itself and coil wound spool, thereby providing a safety transportation device which can be easily handled.
For a better understanding of the invention, reference is taken to the accompanying drawings, of which:
FIG. 1 is an elevation of the present device as applied to a reversible rolling mill,
FIG. 2 is a diagrammatic plan view of FIG. 1 partly in section, and
FIG. 3 is an enlarged elevation of the turn table partly in section for illustrating its detailed portions more clearly.
Referring to the drawings, 1 represents a coil delivering apparatus of the coil after finishing the hot rolling and not wound around a spool 2, a coil rewinding frame which is driven by an electric motor 4 through a reduction gear 3, these members constituting a rewinding mechanism. Reference numeral 5 represents a stanchion of the rolling mill which supports the upper roll 6 and the lower roll 7 and the back-up rolls 8. Reference numeral 9 represents a steel band wound around a spool 19, which band is reciprocated between said rewinding mechanism to eifect the odd number of rollings. FIG. 1 illustrates the operating condition of the rolling mill. Reference numeral 11 designates a coupling for connecting or disconnecting the spool and the shaft 12, which is operated by means of a coupling cylinder 13. Reference numeral 14 represents an electric motor for transmitting a torque to the spool 10 through a reduction gear 15. Reference numeral 16 is a pawl for supporting the spool 10 arranged to be operated by a cylinder 17 to swing about a pivot 18. A first pawl pair is provided with a pawl 16 positioned at each side of the frame 19. Each pawl 16 is so arranged that when the spool 10 is disengaged from the shaft 12 by the action of cylinder 13 the pawl is turned clockwise by the action of the cylinder 17 to push out the spool 10 to be shifted on the frame 19. 20 represents a turn table having a supporting frame 21 formed thereon to support a vacant spool 10' or coil wound spool 10. Reference numeral 22 is a trun nion secured to the central portion of the frame of the turn table projecting downwardly from its lower surface and journaled in a bearing 23. Reference numeral 24 represents a fixed rail on which rest the rollers 25 provided for the turn table 20. On the inner periphery of the rail 24 is provided a rack 24' with which meshes a pinion 28 which is turned by a motor 26 through bevel gearing 27 so that the turn table 20 may be turned by operating the motor 26 through the pinion 28 meshing with the rack 24' on the inner periphery of the rail 24. A second pawl pair and a third pawl pair are provided on the turntable at the front and rear respectively. The pawls 29 of the second and third pawl pairs are positioned astraddle the front and rear supporting frame and each pawl is operated by a cylinder 30 to hold or eject spools.
1t), 16' respectively from the turntable in the same man ner as previously explained in connection with the first pawl pair 16. Reference numeral 31 represents a part of the frame formed on the front and back of the turn table 20. The frame formed on the front and rear of the turntable is dimensioned to be aligned with frame A and frame 19 so that the spool 19 may be rolled into and out of the turntable 20 from the frame A or frame 19 when transferring spools.
In the above described device, when the spool iii wound with a coil after the completion of rolling opera tion is disengaged from shaft 12 and shifted on the surface of frame 19 by the operation of the pawl 16 and is brought to the supporting frame 21 as shown by the broken lines in FIG. 1 by means of frame 31. On the other hand, on the rearward supporting frame is supported spool 16' which is loaded onto the turntable from the frame A. Under such condition the motor 26 is started to turn the turn table 26 for then the positions are interchanged. At this position the spool 10 is pushed out and into the frame 19 of the rolling machine by the action of the pawl 29 to complete the shifting. On the other hand, the spool 16' is brought to a position to be subjected to the rolling operation by the action of the pawl 29 through frames 31 and 19.
According to the invention, the shifting-in and -out of the spools 10 and 16 can be effected very easily by the provision of a turn table of simple construction.
Moreover, according to the invention, the forcing out of the spools lit) and 10' supported on the frame 21 can be effected by means of a pawl supporting these spools without necessitating additional complicated means.
Though the invention is described by means of an em bodiment as shown in the drawing, yet various modifications can of course be made without departing from the scope of the claims.
