UNITED STATES PATENT EricE.
JOHN W. SHIDELER, OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
RACK FOR EXHlBlTlNG SMALL WARES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 317,866, dated May 12; 1885.
' Application filed May 17, 1884. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN W. SHIDELER, of Indianapolis, county of Marion, Indiana, have invented a new and Improved Rack for Exhibiting Small WVares, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of my invention is to provide a new and improved device for holding and ex which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both figures.
Figure 1 is a face view of my improved notion-exhibitor; and Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional elevation of the same on the line a: w, Fig. 1.
On the face of a board, A, a series of trans verse wires, B, are held, which are bent U- shaped, and have their ends bent toform spiral springs G, and the ends of the wires are then secured in the face of the board at the side edges, the transverse parts of the wires being below the springs 0. Each transverse wire is provided near the ends with loops D for receiving the fingers to pull the free parts of the wires from the board. A piece of fabric, E, is secured on the face of the board between the ends of the wires. Two wires, F, projecting from the face of the board at the top, are-bent to form spiral springs G, and the free ends of the said wires project upward and are pressed against the face of the board. A bail, H, is pivoted on the side edges of the board at the top, and is provided with a hook, J, at its top.
In the use of the device the wires B are pulled from the face of the board, and the articles to be held are placed under the wires, and when the wires are released are pressed by the same against and held on the board. The piece of fabric E prevents the articles from slipping. A pricecard or advertisingcard is held by the spring wires F on the board. The board is hung by means of the bail H and hook J. The hook J can be bent to fit on the rail-bar or shelf on which the board is to be hung.
Having thus described myinvention,I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The combination, with the board A, of the wires B, provided with spiral springs O and loops D, and of the wires F, projecting upward and provided with spiral springs G, substantially as herein shown and described.
2. As an improved article of manufacture, a notion-exhibitor consisting, essentially, in the board A, the piece of fabric 0, secured on the face thereof, the wires B, provided with spiral springs G and the loops D, and the upward-projecting wires F,provided with spiral springs G, substantially as set forth.
JOHN IV. SHIDELER.
