Specitication forming part of Letters Patent No. 31,677, dated March 12, 1861.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that we, ISAAC RULoEsoNand DANIEL DE GARMO, of Rochester, in the county of Monroe and State of New York, have inventedanewand useful Improvementin Blows; and we do hereby declare thatthe following is a full,clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to theaccompanying drawings, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure lis a side elevation of the implement, with a section of the rests u and c, through the plane indicated by the red line in Fig. 2, removed. Fig. 2 is a plan or top view with the rear portion ot' the beam B removed.

Thisinvention consists in the arrangement of devices hereinafter described.
Any desired pattern may be used for the general construction of the plow, except the landside, the handle-plate c of which we extend up to the under side ofthe beam, as seen in Fig. 1, and connect the top of it with the top ofthe standard d by means of the web or plate f, and on the top of this plate is cast the rests u and c for the beam B. These rests should extend suiciently each way to admit of a lateral change or movement of the beam to adapt the plow to two or to three horses, (when thethree aredriven abreast,) and through the said rests are formed the open slots c, for the clamping-bolts b to pass through. The said rests u and c are recessed on the under side, as seen in Fig. l at c, to make room for the head of the bolts b, which are prevented from turning when the nuts n are turned by the heads, which are square, fitting between the ange on each side of the recess e. The upper face of the rests u and c are slightlyserrated, to prevent the beam B from. moving when the clamping-bolts b are tightened.
What we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The arrangement of the beam B, plate f, rests u and c, slots c, and clamping-bolts b, the whole being constructed substantially in the manner herein shown and described.
