Description

Nov. 24, 1964 J- TRAUTINGER 3,158,078
. DEVICE FOR STRAIGHTENING, STORING AND COATING PICTURES Filed May 8, 1962 1/ Juli/m 71m ATTORNEY United States Patent 3,158,678 DEVHZE FUR STRAIGHTENENG, STORTNG AND CDATHIQG FIGIURES John Trautinger, 355 E. Eleanor se, Phiiadelphia, Ia. Fiied May S, 1962, Ser. No. 195,361 1 Ciaim. (tit. 95-160) Where pictures are developed in self-developing cameras, they often are wrinkled or rolled, and the object of this invention is to devise novel means for straightening, storing and coating such pictures.
A further object is to devise a novel case or container having at opposite sides and near one end guide flanges leading to and along a bottom strip disposed at an angle to the flange carrying side, said strip being at an angle of not more than forty-five degrees with the adjacent side of the container.
A further object is to provide a clasp having a swivelled connection with a side of the container to provide for securing the container to the shirt or coat of the user.
With the foregoing and other objects in view as will hereinafter clearly appear, my invention comprehends a novel construction and arrangement of a container having means to straighten wrinkled or partially rolled pictures, provided with storage means and with means for holding a picture during a coating operation.
For the purpose of illustrating the invention, I have shown in the accompanying drawings a preferred embodiment which I have found in practice to give satisfactory and reliable results. It is, however, to be understood that the various instrumentalities of which the invention consists can be variously arranged and organized, and the invention is not limited, except by the scope of the ap pended claims, to the exact arrangement and organization of these instrumentalities as herein set forth.
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of a device for straightening, storing and coating pictures, embodying my invention.
FIGURE 2 is a perspective view showing the manner of straightening a picture.
FIGURE 3 is a side elevation of FIGURE 2.
FIGURE 4 is a top plan view.
FIGURE 5 is a side elevation showing more particularly the clasp swivelled to a wall of the container.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts.
Referring to the drawings:
The front and rear walls of the container are formed by folding a sheet of material upon itself to provide a rear wall 1 having an angle bend at the bottom as at 2 of not more than forty-five degrees. The angle strip 2 merges into a flat strip 3 which in turn merges into an angle strip 4 connected with the front side 5. The angle strip 4 provides two straightening edges, one where it merges with the front wall 5 and the second where it 3,158,978 Fatenteol Nov. 24, 1964 merges with the flat strip 3. The side walls 6 and 7 are corrugated and secured to the front and rear walls.
Guides 8 for the picture are in the form of angle strips secured to th side walls at their bottom portions and to the angle strip 4 and curve inwardly and laterally to terminate opposite the lower end of angle strip 4.
The rear wall 1 is preferably longer than the front wall 5, and near its upper end a clasp 9 is secured by a swivel connection It). 11 indicates a picture to be drawn between the open flange portions of the guides 8 and the front wall 5 and strip 4.
The wall 4 of the bottom of the container is at an angle of not more than forty five degrees, and the guides 8 extend along the sides of such bottom.
Pictures developed in self-developing cameras often are partially rolled or in a wrinkled condition, and it is desirable to straighten and flatten them before storage, or coating.
A picture 11 is drawn downwardly between the flanges of the guides 8 and the front wall of the container and also over the bottom flange 4. This operation flattens and straightens the pictures which can then be stored in the container in spaced condition due to the corrugated side walls of the container.
If the picture is to be coated, it is clamped on the rear wall and the coating material applied to it.
The container can be carried in the pocket or suspended on the clothing of the user as is apparent by turning the clasp on its swivel.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A device for straightening film, comprising a container having a front wall merging at its bottom into a first strip extending inwardly and downwardly and merging into a flat portion, said flat portion merging into a second angle strip merging into the rear wall of the container, film guides secured in spaced relationship on said front wall and curving downwardly and inwardly over said angle strip to terminate in proximity to said flat portion, whereby two straightening edges are provided, one where the front wall merges with the first angle strip and one where the first angle strip merges into said flat portion.
