MULTlPLE MEASURING UTENSIL.
SPELIPICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 315,768, dated April 14, 1885.

To 0925 whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, Pnnnn G. GOODWIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful-Multiple Measuring Utensil, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a simple and efficient means for the accurate measurement in different quantities and in one utensil of powdered or fine substances for use more particularly in culinary operations.
The invention consists in combining in one utensil difi'erent measures, such as a half tea-- spoonful, one tea-spoonful, and two teaspoonfuls, so that either may be used as occasion requires.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a plan or top view of a device embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a side or edge view of the same, and Fig. 3 is a section on the line a: a? of Fig. 1.
A represents a flat piece of metal formed with three arms, in the end of each of which is a depression or cavity, and each designed to hold a specific quantity different from the other. For instance, B is a cavity designed to hold a half tea-spoonful, G a tea-spoonful,and D two teaspoonfuls. The substance in each is designed to be smoothed off on a level with the upper edge of the measure, leaving the an act measured amount in the receptacle.
To measure a dessert-spoonful the amount in the receptacles B and C are added together, and for a table-spoonful the contents of O and D are added together. Thus it will be seen that with the three receptacles five different and distinct quantities can be measured. E is a hole at the center to enable the device to be hung upon a pin or hook when not in use. The main portion A may be of thin metal with the several receptacles punched or struclt. up, or the whole may be cast in the desired shape.
The several receptacles are preferably made spoon-shaped for convenience of dipping them into the mouth of a bottle or other orifice; but they may be round, or of other shape, if desirable.
Instead of flat metal, the several measures B O D may be attached to or form part of stems connected together at the center, and instead ofthe spoons measures of other quantities may be employed, such as halfa cupful, a cupful, and two cupfuls.
More than three measures of different capacities may be connected together, if found desirable, and though designed for culinary purposes the device may be advantageously used by apothecaries and others.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The separate receptacles or measures B G D, each of a different specific capacity, and attached to the connecting piece or arms A, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
