SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 314,243, dated March 24, 1885.

' shaped plug, provided at one end with a suitable eye, b, iu which is placed an ordinary ring, c, to which poweris applied when the lifter is in use. On each side ofthe coneshaped plug a, and connected together bymeans of slotted links d d, are two ribbed feathers, e e', constructed so as to fit closely against the sides of the cone-shaped plug a. The slotted links d dyare intended to hold the feathers -e e by means of suitable bolts, as shownin Fig. l of the drawings.
It will be apparent that when the lifter, as shown,witl1 the feathers e e in proper position, is placed in an oblong hole,and power is applied by means of the ring c to the plug a, the plug a will be forced upwardly, forcing the ribbed feathers outwardly and against the sides of the oblong hole.
Having thus briefly described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The herein-described stone-lifter, consisting of the cone-shaped plug a, with the ring c, and slottedlinks d d, with the ribbed feathers e e', as shown and described, and -for the purposes intended.
