SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 314,211, dated Maren 17, 1885.
Application filed May 21,1984. (No model.) i
To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK M. WRIGHT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Paimyra, in the county of Wayne and State of New therein to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to improvements in bosom-boards, and is designed to much simplify the construction without any degenerating effect on the utility of the said boards.
To properly set forth the manner of attain ing the object desiredin thefollowing description, reference will be made to the annexed drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents the frame with the board removed; Fig. 2, the board removed from the frame, and Fig. 3 alongitudinal section through the head-piece of the frame on the line :0 m, Fig. 1.
A represents the board, which is so shaped as to fit in a shirt under the bosom. properly strengthened by cleats B on its under side. The head of the board is curved inward, and is provided with an extension, 0, which has a tongue, D, projecting from it. The board fits in a frame consisting of a tailpiece, E, two side pieces, F, and a headpiece,
30 G. The side pieces are enlarged to correspond It is to the inward curve of the board, and are each provided with a tongue corresponding to the tongue D on the board. The head-piece consists, of a straight piece having on one side a longitudinal groove, H. Into the groove at each end are secured the tongues on the side pieces, and the part of the groove between them is adapted to receive the tongue D on the board, which tongue has a rounded edge, so that it will pass easily into the groove in the head-piece. The board is slightly smaller than the space which receives it, so that when surrounded by a shirt and the tongue inserted in the groove it can be forced from below into the frame, in which it will fit tightly, stretching the bosom of the shirt, and thus putting it in condition to be ironed.
What-I claim as my invention is- The combination, with a tongned board, of a frame consisting of a tail-piece and tongued side pieces, and a grooved head-piecereceiving and retaining thetongues on side pieces, and also receiving the tongue on the board, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses. v
FRANK M. WRIGHT.
