(Cl. 5--336) The present invention relates to bedding articles and in particular to a bedding article for use in a child bed or an invalid bed.

The object of the present invention is to provide an article of this kind which permits of keeping the child tucked in without interfering with the operations of making the bed.

According to this invention, the bedding article Comprises a Coverlet along each of the longitudinal edges of which there is xed a strip of linen in a quick detachable manner for at least one of said strips, preferably by means of a zip fastener, the two linen strips being provided with straps adapted to be assembled two by two under the mattress of the bed.

A preferred embodiment of the present invention Will be hereinafter described with reference to the accompanying drawings, given merely by way of example and in which:

FIG. l is a perspective view, with parts Cut away, of a child bed provided with the bedding article according to the invention.

FIG. 2 is a plan view of this bedding article after separation of one of its lateral strips.

A linen strip 2 or 3 is xed along the Corresponding edge of Coverlet 1 in such manner that one of these strips can be quickly detached.

Linen strips 2 and 3 are secured to the Coverlet 1, on the lateral portions thereof, so as to be fixed to said Coverlet along respective lines at a distance d from the respective lateral edges thereof. Said linen strips are secured in such manner that at least one of them can be quickly detached. Preferably, for this fixation, use is made of a zip fastener 4 5 which may either extend over the whole length of the Coverlet (FIG. 1) or, as shown by FIG. 2, over only a portion of this length. In the latter case, over the remainder of the length of the coverlet, the linen strip is xed through other means, for instance, as shown by ordinary buttons 6 and buttonholes 6a.

With such an arrangement, the zip fastener being disposed approximately along the top side edges of the mattress 7, a band of a width d of the Coverlet extends over the lateral side of the mattress. Thus the Coverlet has not to be slipped under the mattress, as in ordinary bed arrangements.

Linen strip 2 is provided with straps 8 carrying buckles f. ICC

9 and the other line strip 3 is provided with straps 10 sufficiently long to be able to pass under the mattress and to have their end engaged by said buckles 9.

In order to make the bed, the under sheet 11 is first placed on the mattress, then the top sheet 12 and finally the Coverlet 1 with its strips 2 and 3. This Coverlet is fixed on the mattress by means of straps i8 and 10 and buckles 9.

When it is desired to reset the bed, zip fasteners 4, 5, in the case of FIG. l, or said zip fasteners and buttons 6, 6a, in the case of FIG. 2 are opened and Coverlet 1 is removed, thus Clearing the mattress, strips 2 and 3 being held by their straps. The mattress can thus be turned over and the bed is made in the usual manner, after which the Coverlet is fixed in position by means of the zip fasteners 4 5 (and possibly buttons 6).

It will be understood that in spite of the movements of the Child in the bed, the Coverlet is kept in position by said strips 2 and 3 and straps 8 and 10. It is easy to detach strips 2 and 3 from the Coverlet, by means of Zip fasteners 4 and 5 and possibly buttons 6. Strips 2 and 3 can thus be detached and washed when necessary.

In a general manner, while I have, in the above description, disclosed what I deem to be a practical and eflicient embodiment of my invention, it should be well understood that I do not wish to be limited thereto as there might be changes made in the arrangement, disposition and form of the parts without departing from the principle of the present invention as comprehended within the scope of the accompanying claim.

What I Claim is:

For use in a bed Comprising a mattress, a bedding article which comprises a Coverlet free at its respective head and foot ends, two strips of fabric extending along the side portions of said Coverlet respectively, securing means for detachably fixing said strips to the top face of said Coverlet along two respective longitudinal lines located on opposite sides of said Coverlet, respectively, transverse straps secured to each of said strips and extending perpendicularly to the length thereof, the straps carried by one of said strips being located opposite those Carried by the other strip, respectively, and fastening means for securing each strap of one of said strips to the strap of the other strip located opposite it, at least one of said straps being intended to pass under said mattress, the securing means being spaced inwardly a substantial distance from the side edges of the Coverlet.
