.EEPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 811,884, dated February 10, 1885.

To all whom'it may concern:
Be it known that we, GUSTAF ERIOKSON and WILLIAM LINDBLOM, of Des Moines, in the county of Polk and- State of Iowa, have invented anew and useful Medical Compound, of which the following is a specification.
The object of our invention is to prevent and relieve diphtheria, croup, and throat diseases, and also dyspepsia and other disorders of the stomach.
Our composition consists of the following ingredients,combined and used in the proportions hereinal'ter stated, viz: quassia, thirty (30) grains; sarsaparilla, sixty (60) grains; extract of licorice, thirty (30) grains; capsicum, five (5) grains; pure white sugar, nine hundred and sixty (960) grains; pure water,
' two (2) pints. All the ingredients. except the sugar, are chemically united loy boiling and stirring, and after being removed from the fire and strained the sugar is added and the compound then again placed over the fire and boiled about four minutes.
In administering our medicine to children from three (3) to six (6) years of age we give a half (t) tea-spoonful four (4) times a day to each patient at regular intervals. To achild from six (6) to twelve (12) years old we give a tea-spoonful four (4) times alday. To persons over twelve (12) years of age we give two (2) tea-spoonfuls four (4) times a day.
What we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
The herein-described medical compound, consisting of quassia, sarsaparilla, extract of 5 licorice, capsicum, white sugar, and water, in the proportions specified, for the purposes stated.
