Description

UNiTnn STATES PATENT GFFICE,
DIEDRICH SGHULTE, OF PITTSBURG, KANSAS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO ROBERT VOETH, OF SAME PLACE.
HOG-CHOLERA REMEDY.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No.31%,5-5, dated ll larch 24, 1885. Application filed July 18, 1884. (No specimens T aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, DIEDRIOH SOHUL'IE, of Pit-tsburg, in the county of Crawford and State of Kansas, have invented a new and useful ImprovementinHog-GholeraRen'iedies,which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification.
My invention consists of a composition for the prevention and cure of cholerain hogs, and
at the same time acts as an antidote against diseases common to hogs; and it consists of the following ingredientscombined in the following proportions tartaric acid, one tablespoonful asafetida, one table-spoonful sulphur, one table spoonful; black antimony, one table-spoonful; sulphate of iron, two table-spoonfuls arsenic, three and one-half drams; tar, eighteen fluid ounces linseedoil, eight fluid ounces. These are thoroughly mixed together and designed to be the proportion for one quart of the preparation.
In the use of the remedy as described is found a speedy and effectual cure for cholera in hogs if used before the vital parts are in- 2 5 volved beyond the reach of any aid, and it will not only purify the blood, but also effectually expel all poison from the system, and also aid and invigorate digestion.
The directions for using are as follows: dose, one table-spoonful of the remedy mixed with 0 bran-mash given once a day for two days for cholera; dose, one half the above once a month for prevention of cholera.
I am aware that heretofore a hog-cholera medicine has been compounded of arsenic, podophyllurn, poke-root, flowers of sulphur, saltpeter, sulphate of copper, sulphate of iron, antimony, stramonium-seeds, and asafetida, and do not claim such a medicine or com pound.
What I claim is The herein-described compositiomdesigned as a preventive and remedy for hog-cholera, consisting of tartaric acid, asafetida, sulphur, black antimony, arsenic, tar, and 1inseed-oil, as and for the purposes substantially as herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand, this 11th day of July, 1884, in the presence of witnesses. m
DIEDBIGH SOHULTE.
