SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 445,995, dated February 10, 1891..

To aZZ whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, PLACIDE H EBERT, a citizen of the United States, residing at New Iberia, in the parish of Iberia and State of Louisiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Compositions for Liniments; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My composition consists of the following ingredients, combined in the proportions stated, viz: sharkoil, three ounces; polecats oil, two ounces; cascarilla-seed, two ounces; camphor, three ounces; alcohol, two ounces; turpentine, two ounces; Holland gin, two ounces; essence of peppermint, one ounce, and essence of citronella, one ounce.

In preparing the composition of the abovenamed ingredients I dissolve the camphor in the alcohol, and after adding the cascarilla, seed allow the same to stand thirty-six or forty-eight hours in a tightly-closed receptacle. The other ingredients are then added and the whole thoroughly mingled in anysuitable manner.

1 have found from experience that in order to attain the bestresults from the above composition it is necessary to let it stand about twenty-four hours in a tightly-closed receptacle before using the same.

, In using my composition, which is intended for both internal and external use, the dose for children varies from five to ten drops, according to age, and is to be administered in a little sweetened water, While for an adult the dose may be from twenty-five to thirty drops, and for such violent pains as cholera, cramps, &c., as high as forty drops may be administered, and if the pain is not relieved the dose may be repeated in half an hour without any serious results.

My composition may also be used inter nally for dyspepsia, worms in children, pneumonia, colds, (be.

\Vhen the composition is used asaliniment for the cure of pains, bruises, cuts, 650., it may be rubbed upon the affected part, and in the case of a cut it maybe poured into the wound with good results.

That I claim, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is-

The herein-described medicinal compound, consisting; of shark-oil, polecats oil, cascarilla-seed, camphor, alcohol, turpentine, Holland gin, essence of peppermint, and essence of citronella, in the proportions specified.
