Filed Oct. 12, 1961, Ser. No. 144,767 3 Claims. (Cl. 224-) This invention concerns a strap-like device for supporting a wrist-type Watch from a belt, Waist, or other garment.

A principal object of the invention is to provide a watch supporting belt consisting of simply and uniformly cut panels of leather, plastic material, or the like.

A further object is to facilitate connection of a conventional wrist watch case to a strap of the character described.

A further object is to so form the device embodying the invention that it may take a variety of ornamental forms while retaining the same basic functional character.

A further object is to provide a watch supporting device which may be alternatively supported on a belt or pinned adjustably to a blouse, suit or other garment with the watch held in an exposed position for easy reading of the time therefrom.

For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the apended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.

FIG. 1 is a front elevational view of a watch support embodying the invention.

FIG. 2 is a rear elevational view of the Watch support.

FIG. 3 is a sectional view taken on lines 33 of FIG. 2.

FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the Watch support carried on a belt and with a wrist watch secured thereon.

FIG. 5 is a rear elevational view of a modification of the Watch support.

FIG. 6 is a sectional view taken on lines 66 of FIG. 5.

FIGS. 7-12 are front elevational views of watch supports having different shapes.

Referring to FIGS. 1-4, there is shown a watch support 20 including a diamond-shaped front panel 22 and a rear panel 24 superimposed one on the other with their edges in registration. The panels are secured together by stitching 25 extending completely around the panels near the outer peripheries thereof. Transverse slits 26 are formed in panel 22 in spaced parallel relationship. Through these slits are inserted the ends of short folded

27, 28 in such manner that the loops of the straps extend toward each other at the front of panel 22. Stitching 29 secures the short straps to both

panels

22 and 24. On the rear panel 24 in longitudinal position is secured an elongated strap 30. This strap has its ends shaped to conform with the shape of the

panels

22 and 24 at the ends thereof. This strap is secured only by stitching 25 to the

panels

22 and 24 so that a loop 31 is provided through which a strap 32 may be passed transversely of the body of the support as clearly shown in FIGS. 3 and 4.

Pintles 33 of a watchcase 34 can be secured in the loops of

straps

27 and 28 so that the watch is safely held on the front panel 22. Strap 32 may be a trousers support or a belt around the waist of the wearer. It may also be a Wrist, arm or leg strap so that the wearer can carry the watch upon any part of his body he desires.

37 and 38, respectively, are secured in slots 40 having serrated edges so that the bases can be adjustably positioned longitudinally along the panel 24. Clasp pin 36 permits the watch support to be secured to an article of clothing. The adjustable positioning of the pin after the support is secured to the clothing permits a fine adjustment of the watch position on the garment. The adjustability of the clasp pin serves another function since it extends across strap 30. In its various positions across the strap 30 the clasp pin varies the size of the loop 31 through which a belt may be passed under strap 30. Thus, when a narrow strap 32 is used the clasp pin permits the loop under strap 30 to be shortened to hold the Watch support in a steady, balanced position on the strap 32.

In FIGS. 7 through 12, the watch supports are shaped respectively as a spade 45, club 46, heart 47, circle 49, shamrock 50 and ribbon illustration 51. In each of these forms of the Watch support, stitching 25 is provided near the periphery of the

While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiments of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and that various changes and modifications may be made within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent 1. A Watch support, comprising a pair of superposed front and rear panels, a narrow strap joined to one side of the rear panel in spaced relation to define an opening through which a belt may be passed, a pair of short straps folded to form loops on said other panel and secured thereto, said superposed panels being stitched together at the periphery thereof, and a clasp pin disposed across the narrow strap, said clasp having spaced clasp bases adjustably positioned in slots in said rear panel, said slots being disposed parallel to each other and having serrated edges for gripping the bases in selected position on said rear panel.

2. A watch support, comprising a pair of superposed front and rear panels, a narrow strap joined to one side of the rear panel in spaced relation to define an opening through which a belt may be passed, a pair of short straps folded to form loops, the front panel having a pair of spaced slits, said short straps having their ends inserted respectively through the slits leaving exposed loops on said front panel, said ends of the short straps being disposed between the panels and secured thereto, said superposed panels being stitched together at the periphery thereof, and a clasp pin disposed across the narrow strap, said clasp having spaced clasp bases adjustably positioned in slots in said rear panel, said slots being disposed parallel to each other and having serrated edges for gripping the bases in selected position on said rear panel.

Claims

1. A WATCH SUPPORT, COMPRISING A PAIR OF SUPERPOSED FRONT AND REAR PANELS, A NARROW STRAP JOINED TO ONE SIDE OF THE REAR PANEL IN SPACED RELATION TO DEFINE AN OPENING THROUGH WHICH A BELT MAY BE PASSED, A PAIR OF SHORT STRAPS FOLDED TO FORM LOOPS ON SAID OTHER PANEL AND SECURED THERETO, SAID SUPERPOSED PANELS BEING STITCHED TOGETHER AT THE PERIPHERY THEREOF, AND A CLASP PIN DISPOSED ACROSS THE NARROW STRAP, SAID CLASP HAVING SPACED CLASP BASES ADJUSTABLY POSITIONED IN SLOTS IN SAID REAR PANEL, SAID SLOTS BEING DISPOSED PARALLEL TO EACH OTHER AND HAVING SERRATED EDGES FOR GRIPPING THE BASES IN SELECTED POSITION ON SAID REAR PANEL.
