  • This invention relates in general to wash or shampoo basin construction and in particular to a new and useful wash basin unit having a plurality of cutout portions for accommodating the neck of a person for rearward washing of a persons hair or head.
  • the invention is particularly applicable for use in beauty parlors, barber shops, and similar places for rearward shampooing in which instance a person sitting in an adjustable barber chair is positioned so that his neck rests at the edge of the basin or unit while his hair is shampooed.
  • the present invention is an improvement in basin constructions of this nature particularly in respect to a construction which includes a basin unit having two or more neck cutouts arranged on the periphery of the unit to accommodate at several distinct locations the neck of an individual who is to be shampooed, or which can be arranged in a servicing position for more than one adjustable chair.

  • the unit includes a rear wall portion which extends outwardly from each side of the partition wall into each of the compartments, with the areas in each compartment including a neck cutout which is angled toward the normal position of the barber chair which accommodates the customer.
  • the single basin unit can be used regardless of which of the two compartments a customer is seated in association with the chair of the selected compartment.
  • the basin advantageously includes a central water connection with the usual hand valves and spray pipes which can be easily manipulated by an operator facing the basin and the customer whose neck is positioned on the recessed cutout of the basin with his hair overlying the basin bowl.
  • the invention is equally applicable in an embodiment which includes simple rounded or rectangular basin constructions, as well as a duplex type of basin unit which includes two bowl portions, one associated with each neck cutout. When two bowls are employed each is disposed for easy operation in the associated treatment rooms or compartments.
  • a further object of the invention is to provide a basin construction adapted to be mounted centrally in respect to a partition wall dividing treatment compartments which have connections adjacent the treatment wall for the water supply for the basin, the basin including portions extending into the adjacent compartments each portion including at least one neck recess for accommodating the neck of a person located in this compartment.
  • a further object of the invention is to provide a treatment parlor arrangement for the rearward washing of a customers head or hair which includes treatment compartments divided by a compartment wall, and a basin located on the wall and furnished with a liquid for spraying purposes at the location of such wall, the basin including portions extending outwardly from the partition wall into each of the compartments, the portions of the basin including recessed neck areas to accommodate the neck of a person for rearward washing from each of the compartments.
  • a further object of the invention is to provide a basin construction which is simple in design, rugged in construction and economical to manufacture.

  • Both of the individual basins of the units are served by the single spray 8 which may be pivoted between one or the other and the water exiting therefrom is controlled by the valve control 7.
  • Each of these embodiments include neck cutouts 63 which compare to the neck cutouts of the previous embodiments and the embodiment in FIG. 9 includes the winged portions 64 which compare to the winged portions 4 of FIG. 1.
  • Rim portion 62, 62' and 62" of FIGS. 7, 8 and 9, respectively vary as indicated in the drawings in respect to the circular, rectangular and configurational outlines shown.
  • a basin for washing the heads of two persons, one on each side of the partition, leaning backwardly over said basin, said basin having a peripheral edge with two curved depressed portions forreceiving the necks of the persons whereby their heads may be washed as they recline rearwardly toward the basin, said depressed portions being spaced apart in said peripheral edge, the partition abutting the peripheral edge of the basin between said depressed portions.
