. kosh, in the county of YVinnebago and State LJI of WVisconsin, have invented certainv new and useful lmprovementsin Sash and Door Stickers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will'enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make an d use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form apart of this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in sash and door stickers. This class of machines as heretofore constructed are adapted to operate upon but one edge of the stuff or material at a time, and it has therefore been necessary, when desirous to groove or mold both edges of the stuff, to turn every piece and run it through the machine a second time.
The object of my improvement is to provide a machine which will produce the desired work upon both edges of the stuff simultaneously, whereby one person is enabled to do more than double the amount of work in a given time that could be done upon' the ordinary sticker.
My invention and a. sample of the work performed thereby are shown and further explained .by reference to the accompanying drawings. in which Figure i represents a front side view. Fig. 2 is a top view. Fig. 3 is an end view. Fig. 4. is a detail. the work performed by my machine upon the edges of the stuff in passing once through it.

A is the frame of the machine.
B is the adjustable table by which the stuff is supported when passed between the cuttingheads 0 and D.
E is the table-ad j usting screw by which the table is raised, lowered, and adjusted to conform to the width of the stuff acted upon. Both of the cutter-heads O and D are detachably connected to their shafts F and G- in the ordinary manner, and may be removed and substituted by such others as may be required 5 represents a sample of l to do thevarious kinds of work pertaining to sash and doors. To accommodate my sticker to the various widths of material when operating two cutterheads simultaneously, it becomes necessary to provide for thevertical adjustment of the lower cutter-head, D, with the supporting-table, and when desirous to operate upon one side of the stall only it becomes necessary to provide for the vertical adjustment of the lower cutterhead, 1), in dependently ofthesupporting-tablc, whereby it may be brought below the upper. surface of the table, so that the material may pass over it without contact therewith. The vertical adj ustment of the lower cutter-head, D, is accomplished by means of screw F.
G is a guide by which the upper edge of the stuff is held in place as it passes between the cutting-heads. "The upper end of the guide G operates in and is held in place by the bracket or ways H, and is raised and lowered by the adj Listing-screw I, which screw 1 moves upward and downward in a screw-cut thread in said bracket H as it is turned, and carries with it said guide G,which guide is attached to the lower end of the screw by collars in the ordinary way. the hand-screws K K. The outer end of the hand-screws K K are loosei y affixed in brackets L, in which they are adapted to turn, and are provided with collars operating upon the respective sides of said brackcts,which prevent the screws from moving laterally in the brackets as the guide J is adjusted. The inner projecting ends of the screws K operate in thelugs M, which are provided with screwthreaded openings for the reception of said screws, whereby said guide may be adjusted guide the stuff as it moves between and is operated upon by them.
The shaft G, to which the movable cutterhead D is attached, has its journal-boxes A affixed to the slide (Z, operating in the movable yoke B, which yoke is supported by the adjusting-screw F and held in place in connection with thestationary'frame A, as shown in Fig. 4, by the angular blocksO O, which blocks engage in the conversely-shaped angular retaining-ways D D, formed upon the edge of the vertical end pieces, It E, of said frame A. Both screws E and F are supported at their lower ends in sockets a a, in which they are free to turn when adjusting the table or cutter-head.

The screw E operates in a screw-cut hole in thc'lug b, which projects from the 'rear side of the table B, and said table is raised or lowered by the action'of the screw E as it is turned, and thus adjusted to the different widths of material. The journal-boxes A A, which support the lower cutter-head, D, and its shaft, are connected to the yoke B by a dovetail slide, d, one end of which is shown in Fig. 1, which slide operates in ahorizontally-arranged dovetail groove, 9, one end of which is also shown in said Fig. 1. The inward-projecting end of the hand-screw N turns at a fixed point in the arm R of yoke B, through which arm the screw N passes, and is provided with collars, by which it is prevented from moving laterally as it is turned, while the arm 03 moves forward and rearward upon the screw N, carrying with it the journal-boxes A, shaft G, and cutter-head D. Thus it is obvious that by turning the hand-screw Nthe cutting-head Dis adjusted to the various thicknesses of material. As the sh aft G,with its driving-pulley h, is raised and lowered in the act of adjusting the cutter-head D, it becomes neces sary to tighten or loosen the belt N, which end is accomplished by the band-tightening pulley H and lever I. The lever Iis pivoted at its lower end to the bracket J by bolt K, which bracket is affixed to the frame A. The pulley H is secured to the side of the lever 1' by bolt L. As the handle or lever is drawn forward the pulley H is caused to press against the band N, whereby said band is retained at its requiredtension. Thebandpulley S is adapted to turn either with or independently of the shaft T. When desirous to stop the feed-rolls the pulley S is moved inclutch M, when it rotates freely upon the shaft. The clutch M is rigidly affixedto the shaft and rotates with it.
To the side of the pulley S is affixed a clutch, N. \Vhen the pulley S is moved outward toward the clutch M the two clutches engage with each other, thereby causing the pulley S to rotate.
1 upon the side of the frame A. The upper cutter-head, O, is horizontally adjusted by means of the hand-screw A,which has bearings upon the respective sides of the frame A in a loosely-fitting hole. The'upper cutterhead, 0, with its shaft F and journal-boxes a" e, is supported upon the movable yoke 13, which yoke, shaft, cutter-head, and boxes are all moved forward or rearward, as may be required for the proper adjustment of the cutterhead,by turning said screw A. The screw A operates in a screw-cut hole in a dow'nwardprojectinglug of said yoke 13. The j ournal-boxes a are retained in place upon the yoke B by the upward-projecting lugs g g and the bolts 71. h, which bolts h 71. pass down through the boxes and the yoke 13.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In that class of sash and door stickers having an upper and lower cutting head adapted to simultaneously groove both edges of the stuff, the combination of the stationary bracket or ways H, adjusting-screw I, and
guide G, said guide being adjusted by said screw to enter-the groove formed by the upper cutter-head, horizontal adjusting-screws K K, brackets L, lugs M, and guide J, said guide J being adjusted by said screws K K to enter the groove i'ormed by the lower cutting-head, as set forth.
