UNiTED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE .VASHINGTON BEDINGER, OF NEAR JOSHUA, TEXAS.
PLOW.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 310,2E8, dated January 6, 1885.
A pplieation filed January 3, 1884.
Toall whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEoW. BEDINGER, residing near Joshua, Johnson county, Texas. have invented an Improvement in Plows, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in plows; and it consists in the peculiar construction of the moldboard, as will be more fully described hereinafter.
The accompanying drawing represents a mold-board which embodies my invention.
A B represent the points or front corners of the share 0. From the point A to the point D, on the landside edges of the share 0 and mold-board E, the edges extend backward and upward at about the angle shown, and form a curved line, with the greatest or deepest part of the curve at or about the point F. The top edge of the mold-board, from the point D to G, forms a curved line, and from the point G to the point H the rear edge of the moldboard curves downward and inward. From this point H the edges of the mold-board and share curve downward and backward to the point J. The lower edge of share, between the points B J, forms the curve-line, as shown.
In sticky soilssuch as there are in Texasit is necessary to give the share and moldboard such a curve that the rising soil, as the I No model.)
plow is drawn forward, is thrown off from the mold 4 board before it loses the motion imparted to it by the share. For this purpose an even curve is given to the moldboard and share from the top to the bottom, the greatest or deepest portion of the curve being about on a line between the two points F H on, or about on, a horizontal line, and the two points N O on a diagonal line running from top to bot-tom. The proportions be tween the different parts are as shown in the drawing. The angle between the lines A J and D J is twenty-nine degrees, and the depth of the curve between these points A D isabout three inches. The angle between the two lines A G and A J is eighteen degrees, and between the lines D A and A J is thirty-three degrees.
Having thus described my invention, I claim The plow mold-board herein shown and described, formed according to the lines A G, A D, D J, and the curved lines A K G, A F D, and J K D, and having the angles, outlines, and proportions as set forth.
GEORGE WASHINGTON BEDINGER.
