The invention provides a container for a safety razor comprising a base suitable for resting on a flat surface, said base having means shaped to receive the head of a safety razor and to support the razor with its handle extending perpendicularly to said surface.
The invention also provides a container for a safety razor comprising a flat base, having thereon means for supporting said razor, said means being formed to receive the head of a razor inserted thereinto by a movement of the razor along the length of its head.
The invention further provides a container for a safety razor comprising a flat base, having 'a plinth defining a seating into which the head of a razor may he slid to support the razor with its handle extending perpendicularly to said base, a stop being provided at one end of said seating so that the razor may be inserted into and withdrawn from the plinth from only one side thereof.

The construction of container shown in the drawings is designed for holding a safety razor 1 of the kind in common use today which comprise a guard 2 and cover 3 between which the safety razor blade is sandwiched in use and which has a handle 5 extending from the underside of the guard.
In this construction the container comprises a base member 6 and a removable cover 7 which may be transparent. The base comprises a fiat plate 8 of oval shape on which a hollow plinth 11 is provided, the plinth having curved sides 11a of similar curvature but slightly smaller radius than the base plate, and straight ends 11b. The greater width between the periphery of the base plate and the straight ends of the plinth allows room for the provision of one or more holes 12, at one or both ends, which can be used to accommodate fixing screws for a purpose which will be further described hereafter. At one end of its straight ends the plinth is open so that a razor blade dispenser may be housed inside the plinth. Suitable location webs or grooves may be provided within the interior of the plinth to locate the dispenser.
Extending parallel to the longer axis of the plinth and on either side of the upper surface thereof are provided two elongated claw-shaped members 15. These claws are directed inwardly towards one another and are spaced above the upper surface of the plinth and at a distance apart such that the head of a safety razor can be inserted between the claws with the claws overlapping the edges of the head of the razor. In this position, the cover of the razor lies adjacent the surface of the plinth and the handle extends upwardly with its axis perpendicular to the upper surface of the plinth. At one end of the plinth a stop 16 may be provided so that when one end of the head of the razor rests against the stop the razor is located centrally on the plinth.
The cover 7 of the container is of oval cross-section and tapers from adjacent one end which is open to the narrower end, the latter being closed by a flat end piece 7a. The dimensions of the larger open end are such that it fits over the plinth with the rim of the open end resting on the base plate. The inner surface of the cover adjacent the rim lies in close proximity to the curved sides of the plinth, which sides may be sloped to correspond to the taper of the cover. To secure the cover to the base plate a portion of each of the curved sides of the plinth dimet-rically opposite one another may be undercut, and corresponding inwardly projecting tongues 7b provided on the inner periphery of the cover adjacent its rim. To secure the cover in position on the base plate, pressure is applied along a diameter of the cover adjacent the rim at right angles to the diameter on which the two undercut grooves are provided so that the two tongues are moved a little further apart from one another to enable the cover to fit over the plinth. When the pressure is released, the tongues can enter the undercut grooves in the side wall of the plinth and thereby hold the cover in position. To remove the cover, it is only necessary to apply pressure similarly in order to release the tongues from the grooves, after which the cover can be withdrawn.
Inwardly facing webs may be provided on the inner periphery in the upper portion of the cover so that their inner edges lie adjacent the end of the handle of the razor to steady the razor in its upright position. Alternatively, the steadying means may consist of an apertured plate spaced a little from the closed end of the cover, the aperture in the plate being sufiicient to accommodate the end of the handle.
The provision of the hole 12 in the base for accommodating a fixing screw enables the base to be fixed permanently to a suitable member, for example inside a cabinet or elsewhere in a bathroom. One way of fixing the base is to secure it so that the base plate lies in a vertical plane with its longer axis vertical and with the stop on the upper surface of the plinth lowermost. Thus the two claws also extend vertically and a razor is removed or inserted into the claws adjacent their upper end and comes to rest against the stop. The cover, which is particularly designed for housing the razor during marketing and prior to use, may be dispensed with at this stage if desired.
I claim:
A container for a safety razor comprising a flat base, an upwardly extending plinth on said base for supporting the head of a razor and having therein a space for housing l3. razor blade dispenser, a pair of claws on said plinth defining a seating into which the head of a razor may he slid to support the razor with its handle extending perpendicular to said base, a stop at one end of said seating ensuring that the razor is inserted into and withdrawn from the plinth from only one side thereof, and a cover therefor, said cover enclosing said upwardly projecting plinth and said base having a rim of oval shape engaged by the rim of said cover, the oval shape of the cover rim having a major axis of greater length than the corresponding axis of the base rim, the minor axes of the base and the cover rims being of equal length, said base having opposite recesses and said cover having opposite tongues, both said tongues and recesses being located on the minor axes of the base and cover rims, said base and cover being formed of incompressible material, but the rim of said cover being flexible to permit the said tongues to engage or disengage said recesses by fiexure of the cover rim whereby to lengthen or shorten the major axis of its oval shape.
