SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 303,816, dated August 19, 1884.

Be it known that I, Josnrn E. Gnosn a citizen of the United States, residing at Vestiield, in the county of Union and Statcof New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dominos; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact dcscription'of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which itappertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to dominos such as are comprised in game apparatus; and its ob ject is to provide asimple and improved doniino adapted to be more firmly grasped and held by the player and lifted with facility and convenience, whereby slipping and falling of the domino from the fingers and displacement of the other dominos in use in the game is entirely obviated.

To this end my invention consists, substantially, in providing the rectangular sides of the domino with one or more sharp edges pro jceting over the side, substantially as will be hereinafter fully set forth.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a domino embodying my improvements. Fig. 2 is alongitudinal sectional view bottom of the domino at the junction of the sides and the top and bottom surfaces of the same, as shown in the drawings. The said edges project over the sides of the domino, and preferably extend entirely around the sides; but under some circumstances they may as tend only part-of the way around the sides,and the projecting edge at the bottom of the domino may be dispensed with.

The advantages of my invention, will be readily understood and appreciated. The edges projecting over the sides of the domino may be readily grasped by the fingers of the player. and are preferably formed sharp to facilitate convenient lifting and placing of the domino without its accidentally falling upon the game and displacing the other dominos.

I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent- I 1. As an improved article of manufacture, a domino having its rectangular sides provided with one or more edges projecting over the sides, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

2. The hereindescribed domino, formed square or rectangular, and comprising the Hat face provided with the spots, the corresponding flat bottom, and the rectangular sides, the latter being provided with the sharp edges projecting from and over the same, as de scribed, and rectangularly disposed around the domino at the top and bottom, as an improved article ofmanufaeture.
