MOlSTENlNG-CASE FOR CIGARS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 303,069, dated August 5, 1884.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES N. SWIFT, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Moistening-Gase for Cigars, &c., of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Myinvcntion relates to inoistening-cases for cigars and tobacco; and it consists in the peculiar construction and arrangement of the parts as hereinafter more fully set forth, and pointed out in the claims.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification,
, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a glass show-case made in accordance with my inven tion, and Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional elevationof the same.
The body of the showcase A may be of any approved form, size, and construction. In the form of case shown the case is provided with the hinged door B at the back. Beneath the hinged door 13 is formed in the moldings a b In use, I may place a layer of some bibulous material-such as blotting-paper, for ex cleaned. and replenished with water or other liquid without removing or in any manner disturbing the contents of the case; and by employing either of the false bottoms E or F,
or both of them, the contents of the case are supported nicely above the tray; and when the bottom F is used there is no danger of any of the contents of the case dropping into the water or other liquid contained in the tray D.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentl. The combination, with a tobacco-case having a removable perforated or slatted bottom, and an opening, 0, in its base I), of a removable moistening-tray, D, sliding in said opening in the case beneath the false bottom, substantially as set forth.
2. The combination, with the tobacco-case A, provided with the opening 0 in its base, and tray D, sliding in said opening, of the removable slatted and perforated false bottoms E F, substantially as shown and described.
