Description

Feb. 13, 1962 R. A. MORRIS 3,020,569
AMBULANT FLOATING SEAT Filed Nov. 10, 1958 INVENTOR F IG. 2 @MMWM Unite States 3,020,569 Patented Feb. 13, 1962 3,020,569 AMBULANT FLOATING SEAT Robert Andrew Morris, San Diego, Calif. Dr. E. A. Morris, 741 N. Riverside Ave., Rialto, Calif.) Filed Nov. 10, 1958, Ser. No. 773,073 1 Claim. (Cl. 9-347) This invention relates to a new and useful self propelling inner tube seat constructed to support the user so that he is, from the waist up, above the surface of the water and the device can be propelled by the oscillating movements of the user.
The object of this invention is to provide a safe ambulant floating device for use in water by children, anglers, and maintenance men on waterfront apparatus.
The advantages of this invention will be further described in and will be fully understood from the following description and accompanying drawings, wherein:
FIGURE 1 is a detailed perspective view of the tube seat installed in an inflated inner tube, shown in a broken line.
FIGURE 2 is a sectional view of the scull and seat yokes, taken on the line 2-2, in FIGURE 1.
Referring to the drawings wherein like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the views. Numeral 10 designates generally the ambulant float seat that is formed of tubular material having a pair of upwardly extending hooked yokes 12, the yokes being joined together and being secured to the upper edge of a plate-like scull 11 by nuts and bolts generally indicated by the numeral 13, said yokes being provided with hook portions and U-shaped, with the bight portions disposed at 90 degrees to central scull 11. The hooks of the yokes engage an inner tube and the seat hangs inside an inner tube with the scull extending below the inner tube. The
scull 11, yokes 12, and the bolts and nuts are all constructed of materials which will not be readily deteriorated upon contact with water. The nuts and bolts maintain the scull 11 and the yokes =12 in their respective positions.
In operation of this device the legs of the user are straddling the scull 11 and the yokes 12 supporting the user out of the water from the waist up, due to the buoyancy of the inflated inner tube.
It is, of course, understood that various changes and modificatitons may be made in the details of construction and design of the above specifically described invention without departing from the spirit thereof, such changes and modifications being restricted only by the scope of the following claim.
I claim:
A floating inner tube seat of the character described comprising a pair of rod-like yoke members, each of said yoke members being substantially U-shaped and arranged so that the respective bight portions thereof are in confronting relation, a vertical plate-like scull extending between and joined near its upper edge to each of the bight portions, each of the legs of the yoke members having its free end shaped to form a hook element adapted to receive and be supported by a portion of an inner tube.
