LAM P-STOV E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 300,268, dated June l0, 1884.
Application filed December .96, 1953. (No inorlehl Be it known that I, CHARLES. I). KEMMERER, n citizen ol the United States, residing at Grand Island, in the county of Hall and State of Nehraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in LanipStcves; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled inthe art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
)Iy invention consists of certain devices by which an ordinary lamp is made to serve the purpose of a stove for heating and cooking, and which at the saine time acts as a shade and reflector for the lamp. In this speciiication I will describe it as ajt'ipliedV to such lamps as require a chimney; but it may be used as Well on other lamps or with gas by slight changes in the supportingsprings.
The various features of my invention are iilustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is aside elevation of my stove.L Fig. l is a plan View. Fig. 3 is avertical section on the line .r of Fig. 2, and Fig. LiE is an enlarged plan View of a part of my invention. The lamp-chimney is shown in dotted lines.
Similar letters refer to corresponding parts in the different views.
The letter A indicates a truncated cone, ot' tin or other metal, with open ends, and tapering toward the top. Its interior is polished, so as to reieet the light. Springs of Wire or ilat metal, B B, are riveted to the inner side of the reflector near its bottoni, and, entending upward, are furnished at their upper ends with spring-bands C C, which encircle the chimney and hold the cylinder in position.
I use four springs B B, and on two only of them, at opposite sides ot' the cylinder, do I put the clasps orbands C- C, the other two springs B B merely7 resting against the chimney within the encircling clasps C C. Four or more openings, E E, are formed at or near the top of the cylinder, to furnish draft for the iianie of the lamp7 and four additional openings or notches, D D, Aare provided at the top of' the cylinder, in which rest the points of the Wire frame or plate F. On this frame F is placed the vessel containing the articles to be cooked or heated.
By this construction ol" my lamp-stove I concentrate the heat upon the bottoni of the vessel or oven, and yet permit the lamp to b used as a lulninary.
I am aware that lamps are commonly used for heating purposes, and that lamp-stoves are not new; but' Vhat I claim," and desire to secure by Letters Patent ofthe United States, is
The tapering cylinder A, having the holes E E and notches D D, the springs B B, the spring-clasps C C, and the frame F, all con structed 'substantially in the manner and for the purposes herein set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
CHARLES I. KEMMERER.
