W'ILLIAM COOHRANE, OF BROOKLYN, NEWV YORK.
PORTABLE TABLE FOR TRANSFERRiNG FLOUR FROM BARRELS INTO BAGS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 300,219, dated June 10, 1884.
Application filed April 30, 1884.
To all 1072 0771, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, \VILLIAM COCHRANE, of Brooklyn, county of Kings, State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Portable Table for Transferring Flour, &c., from Barrels into Bags, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of this invention is to facilitate the work of filling flour, meal, and similar substances from barrels into bags; and the invention consists of an elevator-table of asize to adapt it to have a barrel placed upon its side upon it, and provided with side and end fenders leading to a spout or hopper for con ducting the flour from the barrel and table into the bag held under the spout or hopper.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of my in- Vention, taken on the line a: :c, Fig. 2. Figs. 2 and 3 show, respectively, a plan and front elevation of the same.
A represents the table. This is supported upon the legs B B, and is provided at its edges with the side pieces or fenders, O G, which do not reach to the rear end, a, of the table A. To their forward ends the fenders C C have attached to them the plate or end fender, O, which is formed with the downward extension 0 in the center, which formsthe outer end wall of the hopper D. The opposite end wall of the hopper Dis formed by the plate cl, secured to the forward end, a, of the table A,
(No model.)
and the side walls of the hopper are formed, by preference, by the downward extensions 6 e, formed at the lower edges and at the forward ends of the side fenders, G 0, these extensions being brought forward and secured to the edges of the extension 0, and also to the edges of the plate d, thus forming a complete spout or hopper.
Constructed in the manner described the device is very cheap, practical, and portable, enabling the flour to be filled from barrels into the bags with very little handling of the full barrels more than to unhead them and place them upon the table A.
In some instances the legs 13 B may be made to fold under the bottom of the table A, so that the device may occupy small space when not in use.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The device herein shown and described for transferring flour from barrels into bags, which consists of the table A, supported upon legs B, side and end fenders, O C, and spout or hopper D, arranged substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
2. The side fenders, O 0, provided with the downward extensions 6 e, in combination with the table A, plate cl, and end fender, 0, formed with the downward extension 0, substantially as described.
IL-LIAM COCHR ANE.
