Nrrnn STATES .ATENT Orifice JAMES F. BARR, OF ASHLAND, OHIO, ASSIGNOB OF ONE-HALF IO ANDREW BRUBAKEB, OF SAME PLACE.
PAPER, TWINE, AND SACK CASE FOR GROCERS, 80C.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 298,656, dated May 13, 1884.
Application led February 20, 1884.
.'l'o all whom it may con/cern.
Be it known that I, JAMns F. BARR, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Ashland, in the county of Ashland and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Paper, Twine, and Sack Cases for Grocers, Src., of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to an improved paper, twine, and sack case; and its object is to produce an efficient, simple, and durable rack for holding wrapping-paper, paper bags, twine, &c., for the use of stores, the parts of said rack being capable of being compactly folded for shipment, and being so disposed that the case may be employed with facility and convenience.
The invention which is the subject of this application is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a front view of a case embodying the invention, and Fig. 2 is avertical section of same on the line x In the drawings, A denotes the back of the case, to which are secured, by means of hinges a, the ends B B, which will be of suitable outline, and between which are arranged the shelves C, said shelves being secured, prefer-V ably7 by gaining them into the ends B B, so as to be detachable at will. The shelves C are designed to hold wrapping-paper, and, for convenience, and to add to the appearance of the case, they will gradually decrease in width from the lower shelf upward. The lower edges of the ends B B may be finished with a molding or more of the shelves may be subdivided by vertical partitions D, for the purpose of forming compartments to contain paper of reduced size, as indicated in the drawings.
Between the upper portions of the ends B B are formed the twine-box E and paper-bag compartment F, the former of which is supplied with a hinged lid or cover, G, and is (No model.)
separated from the paper-bag compartment by 4 5 a vertical partition, H. The twine-boX E extends from one side of the case to the other, being provided at each end with a bowl-like receptacle, I, to contain a ball of twine, the lid G above which having an aperture through which the end of` the twine may protrude, so as to be readily attainable by the person wrapping and tying packages. The space in the twine-box between the receptacles I I may be utilized for holding surplus balls of twine. The bottom J of the twine-box E and paper-bag compartment F is secured between the ends B B in like manner as the shelves O, so as to be detachable.
Y The purpose of securing the ends B B to the back Aby hinges is to permitthem to be folded upon said back, whereby the case may be easily packed and caused to occupy the minimum amount of space during shipment.
By the employment of the case the dealer may readily select the kind and size of paper desired for wrapping his goods, and the twine for tying the same will always be at hand.
What I claim as my invention, and'desire to secure by Letters Patent, is#
1. The case for twine, paper, and bags, hereinbefore described, consisting of the back and ends, the shelves C, twine-box E, and compartment F, the box being supplied with a cover, and having at each end a receptacle for a single ball of twine, substantially as set forth.
2. The case for twine, paper, and bags, hereinbefore described, consisting ot' the back A, ends B, hinged thereto, twine-box E, bag-compartment F, and detachable shelves G, substantially as set forth.
Signed at Mansfield, in the county of Bich land and State of Ohio, this 2d day of February, A. D. 1884.
JAMES F. BARR.
