Description

2 Claims. or. 248-103 This invention relates to devices for suspending milk bottles for babies from the sides of a crib, bed, chair, or
the like, and in particular a rod having counter weights on the ends and a rubber band adapted to be positioned around a bottle and over the rod for suspending the bottle in a position for feeding.
The purpose of this invention is to provide a support forholding a bottle for a baby in which the bottle is retained in a convenient position for feeding by counter weights on the ends of a supporting rod and wherein positions of the counter weights are adjustable to compensate for different positions of the baby.
Various types of supporting devices have been provided for suspending a milk bottle for a baby from upper edges of the sides of cribs and other devices, however, where a bottle is suspended from a holder it is difficult to adjust the position of the bottle to correspond with different positions of a baby and for this reason various types of mechanical devices have been provided for supporting bottles in adjusted positions. Such devices, however, require bolts, screws, and, other metal fastening elements and devices of this type are not-only cumbersome and costly, but the sharp metal edges often injure infants.
With this thought in mind this invention contemplates a relatively simple supporting device including a rod having an elastic band on the intermediate part and having counter weights adjustably mounted on the ends whereby "Figure 2 is cross section through the baby bottle support 'takenfcnfline '2-2 of Fig. .1 "showingjthe rod and counter weight at 'one end with a baby bottle and elastic band'support'theiefor 'shown'in brokenlin'es'.
' s is a perspective view illustrating the use at the improved baby bottle holder showing a baby feeding from a bottle suspended by the devic'e and-showing parts of the crib broken away.
' Figure 4 is a longitudinal section through the supporting rod and illustrating a modification wherein one end of the rod telescopes into the other and wherein parts are the counter weights provide guides, for retaining-the rod in position on cribs of different widths and are also adapted to be turned to adjust the position of a bottle supported by the band on the rod thereof.
The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide a baby bottle supporting device that may readily be positioned on the upper edges of rails of side frames of a crib wherein the device is adjustable for cribs of dilferent sizes and wherein the position of a bottle suspended from the device is readily adjustable.
Another object of the invention is to provide a support for milk bottles for infants in which the parts are adjustable and in which the parts are retained in operative position by friction making all screws, bolts, and other devices unnecessary.
A further object of the invention is to provide a baby bottle support which is of a simple and economical construction.
With these and other objects and advantages in view the invention embodies an elongated rod, an elastic band, and elongated counter weights having openings spaced from upper ends thereof and in which ends of the rod are frictionally retained.
Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description taken in connection with the drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view of the improved broken away and other parts shown in section.
Referring now to the drawing wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts the improved baby bottle holder of this invention includes a rod 10 having elongated blocks having openings spaced inwardly from ends thereof providing counterbalances 11 and 12 frictionally mounted onends thereof and with an elastic band 13 positioned on the intermediate part with the rod 10 extended through loops 14 and 15 of the band and, with the parts as illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 the intermediate part of the band extends around a bottle 16, suspending a bottle in an inclined position from the rod 10.
The counterbalance 11 is provided with an opening 17 in which one end of the rod 10 is positioned and the counterbalance 12 is provided with a similar opening 18 in which the opposite end of the rod 10 is positioned.
With the counterbalances fitting snugly on ends of the rod the balances may beturned in relation to the rod to adjust the position of the bottle and may also be moved longitudinally of the rod to prevent accidental displacement of the rod on cribs of different widths. I
' In the design illustrated in Fig. 4 the rod connecting the counterbalancers is telescoping including a tube 19 By this means the length of the rod may readily be, ad-
justed to compensate for cribs,-beds, davenports and the.
like, of different'widths. r I
In use, the device may be positioned over the upper rails 25 and 26 of the sides of a crib 27, as'shown in Fig.
3 and a bottle placed through the ends of .a rubber band extended over the rod whereby the bottle is adapted to be suspended to a position within easy reach of an infantin the crib. By turning the counterbalances on the rod the end of the bottle upon which the nipple is positioned may beadjusted so that the nipple is within easy reach of the infant. As milk is used from the bottle the positions of the counterbalances may be adjusted to compensate for the center of gravity of the milk remaining in the bottle.
The device may be made of wood, plastic, metal, or other suitable material and the weights may be increased by extending the lower ends of the counterbalances or by adding to the widthor thicknesses thereof.
Although the counterbalances are shown as slidably or frictionally mounted on the rod the weights may also baby bottle support with the upper end of one of the be integral with or permanently mounted on the rod, and the position of the bottle in relation to the rod adjusted to correspond with the position of the infant.
It will be understood that modifications, within the scope of the appended claims, may be made in the design and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is: a
1. In a baby bottle holder, the combination which comprises a rod designed to extend across a crib and rest upon upper edges of side frames thereof, elongated blocks having openings spaced inwardly from'ends thereof for receiving ends of the rod, the ends of the rod being frictionally retained in said openings and the blocks being slidable on the rod to compensate for cribs of difierent widths, the extending ends of the blocks providing counterbalances for turning the rod, a bottle, and an endless elastic band formed with a double loop that is extended over the rod and positioned with the bottle extended through thel'oops whereby the bottle-is suspended from the rod, and with the bottle-extended from the, sideof the rod oppositeto that from .whiehlthe'counter'halance s e1;- tend the bottle may be supported in angularpositions for feeding. V j 1 2. A baby bottle holder as described in claim l wherein the rod is formed in telescoping sections and in which means is provided for retaining the sections in adjusted positions.
