4 Claims. (Cl. 248-106) My present invention relates to supports and more particularly to a bottle holder for nursing babies and has for one of its objects theprovision of a simple, inexpensive, and practical holder for the feeding bottle of a nursing infant. 7

Another object of the invention is to provide a support for holding a nursing bottle which may be firmly secured in a convenient position against displacement or tipping while in various positions of use. p

The invention also suggests the making of the nursing bottle holder out of plastic material which can be kept clean and sanitary and is of pleasing appearance.

A further object of the invention is it provides a nursing bottle holder having support engaging portions and securing means by which the holdermay be secured upon the tray of a highchair, in a play-pen or upon the sides of bassinet, or crib.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be evident to those skilled in the art and in part pointed out hereinafter in connection with the accompanying drawing, wherein the invention is shown by Way of illustration and not of limitation.

Figures 5 and 6 are respectively end and top views of the modified form of the bottle supporting element for use upon the frame as shown in Figure 3 of the drawing.

In the accompanying drawing, I have shown my inventionin its preferred form as having an overhanging frame 10 which is carried by a base 11 having fumiture engaging cleats 12 on its underside. The supporting frame 10 is disposed to overlie the base 11 and substantially centrally thereof between its apex and the base 11 I provide two vertically extending stanchions 13 between which a nursing bottle holding saddle 14 may be positioned at various levels when the device is in use. At the sides of the supported frame 10 I have also provided ornamental openings 15 which provide exposed portions with which hooks 16 carried by securing straps 17 may engage. These straps 17 may be of ordinary cotton webbing or of relatively strong elastic material and at their ends there are suitable furniture engaging hooks or other means so that when in use the base 10 with its cleats 12 will be firmly held upon a piece of furniture, as for example the sides of a highchair tray, the sides of a bassinet, baby carriage, or crib.

- As is more clearly shown in Figure 2 of the drawing, the bottle, indicated by dot and dash lines, is supported in an inclined position with respect to the base 11 when of the invenin use. Also here indicated by dot and dash lines, is

a second position which the straps 17 may take should it be desired to secure the frame 10 against the side slats of a play-pen or crib.

As shown in Figure 3, it is contemplated that the overlying frame 10 with its base 11 and cleats 12 together with the stanchions 13 may be molded of plastic material as an integral unit. However, it is to be understood that the devices may be fabricated in other ways, as for example by cementing or otherwise securing the overlying frame 10 and stanchions 13 to the base 11 as a unit.

In Figure 4 of the drawing, I have shown the saddle '14 as having diametrically disposed outwardly extending tongues 18 that are adapted to be projected into the slots 19 formed in the spaced parallel stanchions 13, as indicated in Figure 3 of the drawing. The slots 19 are here shown as substantially parallel with the surface of the base 11 and in order to incline the saddle14 so as to hold a nursing bottle at a proper angle the tongues 18 are set at a slight angle with respect to the axis of thesaddle 14. In this figure of the drawing, the saddle 14 is also shown as provided with an incircling elastic band 20 which will firmly retain the nursing bottle upon the saddle 14. At this point, it should be stated that the saddle 14 may be formed of' any material as for example, metal or a plastic, but it should be of sufficient resilience to permit its being compressed so as to make possible the positioning of same between the stanchions 13 as the tongues 18 thereof are projected into the slots 19 as shown in Figure 1 of the drawing. A further feature is that the contour of the saddle 14 should substantially correspond with the outer dimensions of the nursing bottle so that after the bottle is secured upon the saddle 14, there will be no danger of the tongues 18 becoming displaced from the slots 19 carried by the stanchions 13.

In Figures 5 and 6, I have shown a modified form which the saddle here identified by the numeral 21 is provided with an anti-skid material 22 against which the nursing bottle is held by spring fingers 23 that are formed upon the saddle 21 as bottle engaging extensions at the sides of tongues 24 as indicated in connection with Figure 4 of the drawing. Inthis later showing, however,- the tongues 24 are not inclined with respect to the axis of the saddle 21 and therefore, in this instance, it is to be understood that the slots 19 of the stanchions 13 will be inclined at various angles so as to position the bottle in a suitably inclined position for the nursing infant.

While I have, for the sake of clearness and in order to disclose my invention so that the same can be readily understood, described and illustrated specific forms and arrangements, I desire to have it understood that this invention is not limited to the specific forms disclosed, but may be embodied in other ways that will suggest themselves to persons skilled in the art. It is believed that this invention is new and all such changes as come within the scope of the appended claims are to be consider'ed as part of this invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a nursing bottle holder, the combination of a supporting frame having a horizontal base, means for securing said base upon an article of furniture with said supporting frame in a vertical position, a pair of stanchions supported in spaced relation upon said base' by said frame having vertically spaced slots cut therein, a saddle of semi-cylindrical form having diametrically projecting tongues at the sides thereof adapted when compressed and without anursing bottle for insertion into opposed slots of said stanchions, whereby said saddle will 3 be secured against lateral movement and positioned to hold a nursing bottle between said stanchions at different levels above said base.

2.. In a nursing bottle holder, the combination of a. supporting frame having a horizontal basewith furniture engaging cleats on its under side, means for securing said base upon an article of furniture with said supporting frame in a vertical position, a pair of horizontally spaced stanchions supported upon said base by said supporting frame, said stanchions being held in fixed relation to their top and bottom ends having mating vertically spaced slots formed at an angle therein, a saddle of semi-cylindrical form having diametrically and outwardly projecting tongues adapted and arranged when compressed for insertion into the mating slots of said stanchions, whereby said saddle may be positioned and held by a nursing bottle between said stanchions and at different levels above said base when a bottle is placed thereupon.

3. In a nursing bottle holder, the combination of a supporting frame having a horizontal base, means for securing said base upon an article of furniture, a pair of flat stanchions supported in fixed spaced parallel relation upon said base and having vertically spaced oppositely disposed slots formed therein, a saddle of semicylindrical form having diametrically projecting tongues adapted and arranged for insertion into the opposed slots of said stanchions when said saddle is compressed, said saddle being shaped to conform with the diameter of a nursing bottle, whereby said saddle may be held between said stanchions at different levels, and means carried by said saddle for securing a nursing bottle in an operative position upon said holder.

4. In a nursing bottle holder, the combination of an overlaying frame having a horizontal base with furniture engaging cleats on its under side, adjustable strap means for securing said base upon an article of furniture, a pair of spaced stanchions extending between said base and said over-laying. frame, said stanchions-having mating vertically spaced oppositely disposed slots formed therein at an. inclined angle, asaddle of semi-cylindrical form having diametrically outward projecting tongues adapted and arranged for insertion into the mating slots of said stanchions when without a bottlethereupon, whereby said saddle may be positioned between said stanchions at different levels above said base, and resilient semicircular extensions of said saddle at the sides of said tongues for securing a nursing bottle upon said saddle.
