STEAM-BOILER CLEANER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 293,444, dated February 12, 1884.
Application Ebd June 27, 188'?. (No model.)
To colli/)hom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAMES H. FOSTER, a citizen of the United States, residing 4at Era,
I in the county of Cook and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Steam-Boiler Cleaners; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and cact description of theinvention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form-a part of this specification.
The iigure of the drawing is a vertical sectional View of myjdevice.
This invention has relation to means for cleaning the mud orfoam, or both, from steamboilers; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of devices, as hereinafter It indicates a bushing, which is connected toy the threaded end lc of the pipe, this in turn being connected to the nipple e', and this to the waste-pipe and throttle-valve, but is usually' connected to theIvalve-seat of a common throtv tlc-valve, a three way valve being provided to accommodate both the foam-pipe c and the mud-pipe c'. When the throttle-valve is opened, the foam will be forced through the upper pipe, c, and the mud through the lower pipe, c', cleaning the boiler in afew moments. Having described this invention, what' I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-- The combination, with a boiler, of the longitudinal cleaner-pipe having a series of under perforations, the aggregate area ofwhich is about equal to the area of thepipe-opening, the cup and bolt connecting the cllosed end of the pipe with the boiler end, and the throttlevalve and Waste-pipe, substantially as specified. v
In testimony whereof I affix my signaturein presence of two witnesses.
