JAMES H. SKIDMORE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
ROLLER-FIXTURE.
SPECIFICATION forming To aZZ whom, it may concern:
full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improvement, showing the roller-pivot in cross-section and fastened in place. Fig. 2 is asectional side elevation of the same, illustrating its use. Fig. 3 is a front elevation of the improvement, showing the fastening turned back.
The object of this invention is to prevent the pivots of shade, towel, and other rollers from getting out of their supportingbrackets accidentally.
The invention consists in a rollenfixture constructed with a bracket having an open bearing to receive a roller-pivot, and provided with-a fastener, whereby the said pivot will be kept from accidental displacement, as will be hereinafter fullydescribed.
A represents a windowcasing, and B a roller, the pivot O of which rests in an open bearing, D, of a bracket, E, attached to the said casing A. The pivot O is held stationary in the said bearing by reason of the end of the pivot being flattened to fit the rectangular opening a in the plate E.
To the upper part of the bracket E is pivoted a button, F, which when turned down hangs above the pivot 0, so that the said pivot cannot be raised out of the bearing D until the button or fastener F has been turned back out of the way. With this improvement, also, the pivot 0 cannot rise out of the bearing D, and thus become accidentally displaced.
I am aware that one of the boxes, open at its top, in which the journal of a churn-agitator runs has heretofore been'provided with a swinging button to prevent the journal from being raised out of its bearings, and I therefore lay no claim to such invention.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The combination, with the roller B, having the end of its pivot C flattened, of the plate E, secured to the casing of a window, and provided with the bearing D and rectangular slot shown and described.-
