United States Patent BO'ITLE SUPPORTER Susan M. Mahoney, Salem, Oreg.
Application October 11, 1957, Serial No. 689,525 4 Claims. (Cl. 248-102) This invention relates to a manner in which a baby may be fed by a person who is holding the baby and has for its object the elimination of the old way of said persons having to hold the bottle in his (her) hand and or the object of allowing said person to hold the baby while feeding it and use the hand which formerly held the bottle for other purposes; in which a means of suspending the bottle from the body of said person is practiced.
One form of the invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a vertical elevation of the invention is use; Figure 2 is a plan view of the bottle supporter. The strap or supporter 11, secured to the muff or bottle gripper 12, to which are secured a plurality of elastic sections 13, to Which are secured a plurality of temporary fasteners 14, which may be temporarily fastened to a plurality of temporary fasteners 14, on the opposite end of the muff. On the strap are a plurality of temporary fasteners located in four places 15, those near the ends for fastening the strap end to end, and those near the median point for fastening the strap to itself at times when it is more convenient to use the bottle supporter with them fastened. When the median point fasteners are connected, the bottle is supported at a steeper angle to enable dispensing the last few ounces of milk from the bottle.
I claim:
1. A nursing bottle holding device comprising a strap to pass around the neck of the user and having detachable fastening means at is opposite ends for connection at a place in front of the user, a separate flexible bottle hold- "ice ing member secured to said strap in transverse relation to said strap and adjacent one end of said strap and projecting laterally from both side edges of said strap to provide wing portions for encircling a bottle, detachable securing means on the lateral ends of said wing portions for connection to hold said bottle holding member in encircling relation with respect to a bottle, said detachable securing means including stretchable portions which are elongated at the time said detachable securing means are connected so that said bottle is gripped by said bottle holding member, the securement of said bottle holding member to said strap extending along said strap for a substantial distance so that the angle said bottle assumes may be controlled by shifting said strap to various positions relative to the neck of the user.
2. A device as set forth in claim 1 in which said de-- tachable fastening means include spaced fastening elements on one end of said strap for selective engagement with the part of such detachable fastening means on the other end of the strap.
3. A device as set forth in claim 1 in which said strap has detachable connecting means located adjacent the portion of said bottle supporting member which is re mote from said one end of said strap and in which said strap also has complementary detachable connecting means on said strap in spaced relation from the other end of said strap for connection to the just-mentioned connecting means to alter the inclination of a bottle supported by said device.
4. A device as set forth in claim 1 in which the part of said detachable fastening means which is located on said one end of said strap is located, operatively speaking, on the side face of said strap which is remote from the side face to which said bottle supporting member is secured so that the supporting member is disposed in depending fashion from the strap when the device is arranged around the neck of a user.
