4 Claims. (Cl. 211-48) The present invention relates to a hanger for drawings which is adapted to be attached to a wall, the drawings hanging from the hanger. The said hanger is preferably adapted for use in small premises in building sites, workshops or the like, and it is substantially characterized in that an arm or the like, which is pivotally attached to a wall fitting, has at its top consecutively arranged pins or the like, and a rule carrying the drawing pivotally attached to the pin. According to the invention the rule can at one end be provided with a sleeve, a loop, or the like which can be pivotally mounted on the pin, so that the rule is swingable horizontally. The rule may consist of two strips of sheet metal of the same length, the said sleeve being so arranged at the end of one of them, that the latter, when the sleeve is mounted on its pin, is lying in a vertical plane. The second strip of sheet metal is hinged to the upper edge of the first strip of sheet metal, so that a drawing can be inserted between the lower edge portions of the said strips and be retained by the latter when they are moved towards each other.
An embodiment of the hanger is illutsrated in the accompanying drawing. Fig. 1 shows the hanger seen from the side and Fig. 2 from above. Fig. 3 is a cross section along the line III-III in Fig. 1.
In a fitting 2, attached for example to a wall, a shaft 3 is vertically and pivotally attached in an upper and a lower flange 4. To the shaft 3 an arm 5 is pivotally attached, which arm, along its whole length has vertically protruding pins 6. On these pins a loop, sleeve or the like 7 can be mounted,'which is attached to one end of a main rule 8 which carries a second rule 9 of the same length which is pivotally attached by means of a hinge 10 to the upper end of the main rule 8 in fixed position, so that the turnable rule 9 can be swung towards the main rule 8. The ends 11 and 12 of the lower end portions of the two rules are bent inwards in such a manner that, if a drawing 13 is inserted between them, the said drawing is clamped therebetween. In order to retain the pivotal rule 9 against the main rule 8 the latter is provided with a holder 14 for a resilient clamp 15, which, in the position shown in the drawings, presses the ends 11 and 12 of the two rules against each other. When the said clamp has swung round its axis 16 so that ice it is parallel with the rules, the lower edge portion of the swingable rule can be swung off from the main rule. The outer end of the swingable rule 9 is provided with a window 17 in which a written statement of the drawing carried by the rule in question can be inserted. It is evident that if rules are disposed on all the pins 6 or on some of the pins, and if the arm 5 has been swung to the left (Fig. 2), the righthand ends of all the rules will have a portion which is not covered by the adjacent rule. The windows 17 are provided on these exposed portions, so that it is possible to swing away the drawing which prevents the examination of a certain drawing,
when the arm has been swung to the right and the arms have been moved towards the wall.
The invention is not restricted to the embodiment shown but can be varied in several ways within the scope of the claims. Several clamps may be provided.
What I claim is:
1. A display hanger for illustrative sheets comprising a base member adapted for being affixed to a vertical support, a pivot supported by said base member, a bar rotatable on and laterally extending from said pivot, a plurality of pins extending upwardly from said bar; at least one arm detachably supported on one of said pins, said arm comprising first and second elongated members of different heights, a hinge connecting said elongated members, and a loop for engaging said one pin; and a clamp for clamping said elongated members together for the clamping of a sheet; said elongated members each including flat portions andcorresponding angular portions whereby a sheet clamped between said elongated members is urged into a serpentine path for a more positive support.
2. A hanger as claimed in claim 1 wherein said angular portions are arcuate.
3. A hanger as claimed in claim 1 wherein one of said elongated members defines a window for the viewing of the clamped part of the sheet.
4. A hanger as claimed in claim 1 wherein said clamp is external of said arm and comprises a disc engaging against one of said elongated members and a resilient cantilever member pivoted to the disc for engaging the other of the elongated members, the cantilever member having sufiicient resilience to permit a hinged movement of the elongated members.
