Description
Patented Dec. 4, 1 883.
' INVENTOR O/HWW ATTORNEY N4 PEYERS. Phomumo n ner. wnsmngtnn. D. C.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HARRIS DANZIGER, or new YORK, N. Y.
FINGER-RING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 289,511, dated December 4, 1883,
Application filed July 20, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HAR Is DANZIGER, of the eity,'county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Finger-Rings, of which the following is a-specification.
This invention has reference to an improved finger-ring thatcan be readily adjusted to different sizes of fingers; and the invention consists of a finger-ring which is made of a nunr. ber of parallel double links connected by in tercrossing links that are pivoted to the former and applied to sections that are hinged to the sides of the stone-setting.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a front view, and Fig. 2 a plan, of my improved finger-ring. Figs. 3 and 4 are side views of the same, showing it respectively in contracted and extended state; and Fig. 5 is a detail showing the construction of the ringbody.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
For the purpose of making the ring adj 11stable, so as to fit the different thicknesses of fingers, the greater or entire part of the ringbody A is made of a series of parallel double links, a a, that are connected by intercrossing single links b I), each of which passes through one of the double links a, and is pivoted at Y its center to this double link, and at its ends to the next adjoining double links, as shown clearly in Fig. 5. By this construction the greater part of the ring-body A may be expanded or contracted, so as to be fitted to different sizes of fingers. The end links of the adjustable portion A of the ring are pivoted to side pieces, B B, which are hinged to the setting 0 of the stone. The ring may also be made throughout its body of pivoted intercrossing double and single links.
I am aware that a continuous ring for napkins and other purposes has been made of intercrossing single links that are pivoted together at the ends, and I do not claim this feature, broadly.
Having thus described myinvention, I claim as new and desireto secure by Letters Patent- 1. A finger-ring composed of parallel double links and intercrossing single links pivoted at the center and ends to the double links, substantially as set forth.
2. A finger-ring consisting of a setting for the stone, side pieces hinged to the setting,
and an adjustable body made of a series of 55 parallel double links and intercrossing single links that are pivotedat the center and ends to the double links, substantially as described.
Intestimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HARRIS DANZIGER.
