' braces, d, extend between the handle D and upon the rear of the stop-bar, to enable the f of the pole farther back, and by elevating it these stops renders them very .convenient and of adjustment are Very wide, so that the scraper work.
claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters stop or bumper thereon, and means, substan-' bowl to strike it sooner, or moved forward, to cause it to strike it later, and it may be set in any position.
I do not confine myself to the particular means I* have shown for adjusting these stops or bumpers, and Inlay modify these means as I showin Fig. 3. In this two parallel spaced the rear top center of the bowl. These'are perforated, as shown. The stop-bar G lies'in and slides between these braces, and is also perforated. The bolt gT-passes through these perforations. A small handle, is made driverto moveit forward or back.
In Fig. 4 I show another modification. In this the handle D is straight and is braced from below. The stop-bar G lies alongside of the handle and slides in the guide-staples d. On the other side of the handle is fulcrumed, at a lever, I, having on its forward end a pin, 1', which passes through ahole in the handle, and is adapted to enter any-of the perforations g in the stop-bar G. A spring, J, holds and returns said lever to position.
Another modification is shown in Fig. 5. The forward end of stop-bar G is ratoheted, and engages with a pin, (L in socket a, being held to its engagement by a spring, 8, in a boX- ing on the socket. The central position of makes a compact device, avoiding clumsiness and nnworkman-like construction. The limits can be rendered serviceable forv all kinds of It is obvious that by putting the crossbar or increasing its thickness, the bowlor its bar maybe made to strike it or a bumper upon it; but this is the equivalent of devices I have shown, and I have not therefore deemed it necessary to show it. Likewise, the bar Gv might. be made forked, and strike thecrossbar on each side; or bumpers might be placed in position on each side. 4
I hereby reserve to myself the right to make separate applications for Letters Patent for the modified forms of construction shown but not claimed in this application.
Having thus described my invention, what I Patent, is

3. In a dirt-scraper, the turning bowl A, the stop or bumper thereon, anda means for rendering said stop adjustable forward or back, in combination with the pole F, a stop or bumper thereon, and a means for adjusting said stop or bumper forward or back, substantially as and for the purpose herein described. 4. In a dirt-scraper, the turning bowl A, having handle D and socket a, and the stopbar G, guided past the handle, passing through the socket and extending in front of the bowl,
in combination with the pole F, with the rear end of which the stop-bar G is adapted to come in contact, to limit the dump of the scraper, substantially as herein described.
5. In a dirt-scraper, the turning bowl A,
having handle D, the stop-bar G, and the means for rendering it adjustable forward or back, consisting of the perforated socket a on the bowl, the series of perforationsg in the end g of the stop-bar, and the pin or bolt 9, in combination with the pole F, substantially as and for the purpose herein described.
6. In a dirt-scraper, the turning bowl A, in combination with the pole F, the inclined stop H, and means for rendering itadjustable forscrew h, substantially as and for the purpose herein described.
8. In a dirt-scraper, the turning bowl A,j-
having handle D, and the adjustable stop-bar G, in combination with the pole F and the adjustable inclined stop H thereon, substantially as and for the purpose herein described.
