SACK-TURNER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 287,214, dated October 23, ess. Application filed February 5,1883. (No model.)
drawings, forming part of this specification,
in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure l is a side elevation of my improved sack-turner. Fig. 2 is a'front elevation showing the sack placed on the first finger, preparatory to being turned; and Fig. 3 is a front elevation showing the sack shifted onto the other finger and turned.
On any suitable block or bar of Wood or other material, a, suitable for being held in the hands or in avise, and havingproj ections bat each end, I fiX a finger or bar, 0, by a pivot, d, upon one of the projections b, and a stop, 6, to limit the swing of said finger in one direction, and on the other projection 12, Ifix a stationary finger,
f, the two fingers being so thatthey will touch each other at the ends, or nearly so, when finger c is shifted into line with f, and by preference I groove the end of c a little, so that the end of finger f may project a little into the groove, but that is not very essential. I prefer to make the finger f to conform in shape to the shape of the sack to be filled, when turned, and, if desired, both of the fingers may be so shaped.
The dotted lines 5 Fig. 2, represent the sack to be turned placed on finger c, said finger being swung out of line a little on its pivot d, to receive the sack, preparatory to being shifted in line with finger f with the sack on it. The dotted lines h, Fig. 3, represent the sack on finger f, after being turned, onto which the sack is shifted by the act of turning it, which consists in placing the fingersunder thelower end of the sack, while on fingers c, and stripping it upward onto f, while the end of the sack is held between the ends of the two fin- 5o ably connected to the block for changing them when required.
The stop 6 may be dispensed with, and any equivalent of the block a b may be employed, as two blocks, 12, attached to a table or bench.
Having thus fully described my invention, I
claim as new and desire .to secure by Letters Patent- 1. The improved sackturner, consisting of block a b, or its equivalent device, pivoted finger c, and stationary finger f, combined and 6 arranged substantially as described.
2. The improvedsack-turner, consisting of block a b, or its equivalent device, pivoted finger 0, stop 6, and the stationary finger f,
combined and arranged substantially as described.
3. The improved sack-turner, consisting of block a b, or its equivalent device, pivoted finger c. and stationary finger f, one of said fingers being grooved on the point and receiving the point of the other finger in its groove, substantially as described.
LEE ROY ARTHUR.
