1 Claim. (Cl. Mi -162) This invention relates to improvements in blade holders and more particuiarly to a novel blade holder of the type adapted to hold a safety razor blade.
An object of the invention is to provide a device of the type which will shield and cover a razor blade when it is not in use, and which will retain it in a projected position.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of the type which will wedge the blade in open position.
Other and further object of the invention will appear as the description proceeds, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. l is a plan view in elevation of the blade holder.
2 is an edge view of the same.
ig. 3 is a view taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.
Fig. 4 is a view partly in elevation and partly in section taken on line 4--4 of Fig. 1.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, the numeral .0 refers to the device generally, comprising a body portion 11 and the handle portion 12, formed of two sheet elements 13 and 1d, fixed together by the adhesive 15 as shown in Fig. 3. Both elements 13 and 14 are rectangularly slotted in registry as at 16, to permit longitudinal movement of the blade back 17 within the confines of the slots. Each element 13 and 14 has an oblique slot as at 18 with a circular terminal form at one end 19, but the two slots and terminal forms are slightly out of registry as shown in Figs. 1 and 4, so that after assembly, the wedging button 20 will not slip or fall out through the circular apertures. The elements 13 and 14 have matching oblique edges at 21 permitting the blade 22 to pro trude when it is moved to the outer end of the slots 16, and movement of the button Zll toward the small end 23 of the slots 18 will tighten the elements against the.
razor blade 22 whether it is protruded or retracted into the body portion 11.
It will be understood that the device is capable of many modifications in structure and design, without departing from the spirit of the invention, within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed and desired to be secured by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
A blade holder including a body portion and an integral handle portion, said portions formed of two like sheet elements adhesively secured together throughout the handle portion and along one edge of the body portion and having registering longitudinal slots adjacent said edge longer than and for guiding the reenforced back of a single edged razor blade slidably held between said sheet elements in their unsecured portion for movement in the sliding area between a protruding position and a retracted position of the blade with respect to said holder, registering slots in the body portion of said sheet elements disposed at an angle to said longitudinal slots and adjacent the opposite edge of said body portion clear of said razor blade sliding area, a double-headed clamping button having a head connecting portion slidable and in said second mentioned slots, the heads of said button being spaced closely against said sheet elements to press them together, so as to wedge portions of the sheet elements against the sides of the razor blade in either of its positions when the button is moved in the direction of the blade to clamp said blade firmly against sliding from its position.
