3 Claims. (Cl. 128-76) This invention relates to a wrinkleremoving device, and more particularly to a device for removing wrinkles from the face of the wearer.

An object of the invention is to provide a novel design for a wrinkle remover that is inexpensive to produce, that is positive in its action, and that is quick and easy to install and wear.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a novel design of wrinkle remover that may be used for ornamenting the wearers hair, as well as for removing wrinkles from the face.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a novel design of wrinkle remover that may be used in such a manner that casual observers would not know the device was being used.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a wrinkle-removing device that will have the appearance to a casual observer of a bobbypin, or other conventional hair-retaining device.

\ Another object of the invention is the provision of a novel wrinkle-removing device that utilizes a minimum of parts.

Figure 1 is an assembly view of the wrinkle-removing device embodying the present invention, including an anchor barrette, a locator barrette, and elastic means interconnecting the barrettes.

Figures 6 and 7 show side and front views, respectively, of a clip used in securing the ends of the elastic means to the barrettes.

Referring now to the drawings, the invention is shown embodied in a wrinkle-removing device comprising a locator or positioning barrette 21 arranged to grasp a portion of the wearers hair over an elongated area adjacent the hairline, an anchor barrette 22 arranged to grasp the hair at the side or back of the wearers head over an elongated area at an angle to the axis of the area engaged by the locator barrette 21, and elastic means 23 interconnecting the locator barrette 21 and the anchor barrette 22 and arranged so that when the elastic means is stressed by pre-positioning the locator and front views, respec- 2,863,448 Patented Dec. 9,

21 and 22 the stress in the elastic means urges the locator barrette 21 toward the anchor barrette 22 so that the skin on the face of the wearer is pulled in the direction of the anchor barrette to remove wrinkles from the face.

In this embodiment of the invention the anchor barrette 21 is best shown in Figures 1, 4 and 5. The barrette 21 is formed from one piece of metal shaped to define a substantially straight base or back portion 26 having a hook or lock portion 28, and a curved tongue portion 27 in the open position of the barrette, as shown in Figure 4. This construction provides that when the free end of the tongue 27 is interlocked with the hook 28 the barrette assumes an arcuate shape and the intermediate portion of the tongue 27 and the back 26 are in engagement and will tightly grasp the hair disposed between these members. On the side of the base 26 away from the tongue 27 are spaced

29 and 31. The latter may be formed integral with the base 26 or may be afiixed at spaced positions on the base by soldering, welding or other suitable means.

The anchor barrette 22 is best shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3. Generally the barrette 22 is formed from one piece of metal deformed to define a base 32, a hook or lock 33, and a curved tongue 34. The tongue 34 is deformed as described for the tongue 27 of the barrette 21 so that when hair is disposed between the tongue 34 and the base'32 in their locked position it is positively held there. An eye 36 is formed integral with or is afiixed to one end of the barrette 22 as by soldering, welding, or other suitable means.

Each clip 38 is of conventional construction, as best shown in Figures 6 and 7 and comprises a C-shaped member formed from deformable material compressed about the end portions of the elastic members interlocking the

A modification of the wrinkle-removing device is shown in Figure 8. This embodiment of the invention includes a locator barrette 43, an anchor barrette 44 and elastic means 46 interconnecting the

43 and 44. The anchor barrette 44 is of the same construction as the anchor barrette 22; the locator barrette 43 however differs from the locator barrette 21 in that this locatorubarrette has only one eye 47 intermediate the ends of the back 48 of the barrette 43. The eye 47 may be afiixed to the back 48 by any suitable means as described hereinbefore. The elastic means 46 in this instance comprises an elastic cord having its opposite ends respectively linked through eye 49 on the anchor barrette 44 and the eye 47 on the back of the locator barrette 43 and positively interconnected with the barrettes as described hereinbefore, or by tying knots in the ends of the cord to interlock

In Figure 9 there is shown a modified form of a tongue used in the anchor and locator barrettes. In general the barrette shown includes a base 52, a hook 53, and a tongue 51 formed as hereinbefore described. In this embodiment, however, a thin layer 54 of rubber material is secured to the inside of the tongue 51. I have found that when the inside of the tongue is treated in this manner any tendency for a barrette to slip relative to hair grasped between the tongue 51 and the back 52 is minimized, if not entirely eliminated. It is readily apparent that coatings or layers of some plastic materials are as satisfactory as rubber for this purpose. Also it is to be understood that the inside of the tongue may be grooved to provide a better base for any coating.

By using barrettes formed from one piece of metal, the barrettes give the appearance of a bobbypin or other pin for fixing-the-hair and it will not be apparent to an observer that a wrinkle-removing device is being used.

It is also apparent that by proper positioning of the barrettes in the wearers hair they can be used inconspicuously, or where desired, ornaments may be placed on the barrettesand, they will havethe appearance of hair ornaments rather than of a wrinkle-removing device.
