EY Wr/7gg nited States Patent ELBQW TREATMENT DEVICE Alice A. Bergholt, Addison, Ill. Application September 12, 1957, Serial No. 683,656 3 Claims. (Cl. 12S- 57) My invention relates to a device adapted to be detachably mounted on the arm of a user for treatment of her elbow.
Among the objects of my invention is to provide a device which will enable a customer to have her elbows treated in a beauty shop even while she is waiting for her hair to dry; to supply a device attachable to the arm of a user for treatment of her roughened elbows; to create an elbow treatment member detachably mounted to the arm of a user at home or a customer in a beauty parlor.
My invention also contemplates such other objects, advantages and capabilities as will later more fully appear and which are inherently possessed by my invention.
While I have shown in the accompanying drawings a preferred form ofmy invention, yet the same is susceptible of modification and change without departing from the spirit of my invention.
Referring to the drawings, Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of my device attached to an arm; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the same; Fig. 3 is a side View of the same showing a bent elbow; Fig. 4 is a side view of the same showing the arm in downward position; Fig. 5 is a plan view of the open device with snap fasteners; Fig. 6 is a detailed sectional view on line 6-6 of Fig. 5 with strap and buckle fasteners and Fig. 7 is an exploded perspective view of the parts of my device.
The embodiment selected to illustrate my invention comprises a body member 10 of llexible material such as leather, rubber or plastic. Slidably mounted on the inner surface of said body member 10 is a flexible slidable member 11 of similar material. A retaining portion 12 formed in or attached to the inner surface of said body member is adapted to hold the slidable member 11 against accidental displacement. Removably mounted on said slidable member 11 is a iiexible cup 13 of elongated contour. Within said cup 13 is held my medicated salve for treating roughened elbows. A soft rounded oval or roll 14 is rotatably mounted in cup 13 and held therein by marginal overhanging lip 1S of cup 13.
Adjacent each end of body member 10 are suitable fastening members for attaching my device to the arm of a user or customer. In one form, I provide a buckle 16 on one side to removably receive a strap 17 with suitable openings on the other side. In another form,
I provide opposite sides of the body member with interengaging snap fasteners 18. In another form, I provide elastic loops 19, attached adjacent the opposite ends of body member 10.
In use of my device, let us say that a customer in a beauty shop, has just had her hair washed. She is seated under a dryer. Ordinarily this time spent is a loss to the beauty parlor, because the customer usually reads. With my device this time may be used. Many women have roughened elbows. My devices may be attached to the arms of the woman. The womans elbows contact oval or roll 14 and moves it around against the medicament or salve in cup 13. The treatment continues While her hair is drying and the woman receives an elbow smoothing treatment, and the beauty shop another chargeable operation.
At home a Woman can attach my devices to her arms and treat her elbows at her convenience.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. An elbow treatment device comprising a flexible body member, fastening means attached to said body member for removably attaching the device to the arm of a user, a flexible slidable member Slidably mounted on said body member, and a exible cup removably mounted on said slidable member and adapted to hold elbow treating means, said slidable member permitting movement of the elbow within said cup during exing of the arm by the user.
2. An elbow treatment device comprising a ilexible body member, a pair of spaced clamping members attached to said body member and adapted to removably engage the arm of a user, a flexible slidable member Slidably mounted on the inner surface of said body member, said body member having retaining means for preventing the slidable member from accidental displacement, a llexible cup removably mounted on Said slidable member and adapted to hold elbow treating salve, and a soft round member rotatably mounted within said cup, said clamping members positioning the elbow of the user in contact with said soft round member and the treating salve in the cup, and said slidable member permitting movement of the elbow within said cup during flexing of the arm by the user.
3. An elbow treatment device comprising a ilexible body member, a pair of spaced clamping members attached to said body member and adapted to removably engage the arm of a user, a exible slidable member Slidably mounted on said body member and a flexible cup adapted to hold treating salve, said cup removably mounted on said slidable member, said clamping members positioning the elbow of the user in contact with the treating salve in said cup, and said slidable member permitting movement of the elbow within said. cup during flexing of the arm by the user.
