INVENTOR J AN OS TO'T' l-I I FIG. 2
F'IG.
United States Patent O 3,213,474 BACK WASHER .Ianos Toth, Burlington, Ontario, Canada, assignor of onehalf to Steve Marton, Burlington, Ontario, Canada Filed Nov. 22, 1963, Ser. No. 325,558 1 Claim. (Cl. 15-222) The present invention relates to a back washing implement and it consists in the combinations, constructions and arrangements of parts hereinafter to be described and claimed.
Generally there is provided an implement for use in washing the human back which implement consists of an elongated body of flexible material such as leather, plastic material, rubber or the like which has integrally formed at each end portion thereof a pair of outwardly converging straps which terminate in an integrally formed handle in each case. To either side of the body there is affixed by adhesive or the like a pad of sponge-like material such as sponge rubber or the like. The device is utilized to wash the back of a human body by first soaping the sponge devices and then manipulating the same over the back of the user, the user utilizing one of his hands with each of the handles much in the manner of drying himself with a towel.
It is accordingly an object of the invention to provide a back washing implement which is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture and yet effective and efficient in use.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device of the character set forth which is formed of a minimum number of parts.
Still another object of the invention is to provide a device of the character set forth which may be utilized by a person much in the manner of a towel.
A further object of the invention is to provide, in a device of the character set forth, a flexible body forming a part of the invention and which permits the device to conform to the inequalities of the surface of the human back during use.
Other and further objects of the invention will become apparent from a reading of the following specification taken in conjunction with the drawing, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a front elevational View of an embodiment of the invention,
FIGURE 2 is a side elevational View thereof, and FIGURE 3 is a perspective view showing the device 1n use.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, there is shown therein a back washing implement comprising an "ice elongated body 10 of leather, rubber or exible plastic material having integrally formed at each end portion thereof a pair of converging straps 11 each pair of which terminates in an integrally formed substantially circular handle 12.
Upon either side of the body 10 there is mounted by adhesive or like means indicated at 13 a layer 14 of sponge-like material such as sponge rubber or the like.
In use, it will be apparent that the sponge devices 14 may first be applied with soap after which the user of the device may grasp one of the handles 12 in each of his hands and then manipulate the device in contact with his back much in the manner of using a towel to dry his back. It will be apparent that since the entire device is made of material which is flexible, that the same will remaind in contact with the back of the user regardless of the contours of the back. In fact, as shown in FIGURE 3, in manipulating the device, the user may move the plane of one of the handles 12 to substantially angular relation to the plane of the other handle to thus twist the body 10 and its attached sponge members 14 to follow difficult curves on the surface of his back.
While but one form of the invention has been shown and described herein, it will be readily apparent to those skil-led in the art that many minor modifications may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claim.
What is claimed is:
A back washing implement comprising an elongated body of flexible material, a pair of handles, a pair of outwardly extending of greater exibility than said body straps laterally spaced interconnecting each end of said body with one of said handles, said handles and said straps being integral with said body and forming end-wise extensions thereof and of common material therewith and an identical covering of sponge-like material aflixed to each of the faces of said body and of a width equal to the width of said body.
