THOMAS JACORR, OF EUREKA SPRINGS, ARKANSAS,
COMBINED FLOUR-CHEST AND CUPBOARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 285,577, dated September 25., 1883.
Application filed August 24, 1882. Renewed August 23, 1883. (ModeL) 4 To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, THOMAS J. CORR, of Eureka Springs, in the county of Carroll, and in the State of Arkansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Combined Flour- Chest and Cupboard; and I do hereby declare that the following isa full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making apartof this specification.
This invention relates to an improved combined flour-chest and cupboard; and it has for its objects to combine in a single chest and cupboard all the various receptacles for the various articles. required in the manufacture of bread, and. the said objects I attain by 'the means illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 represents a front View of my improved chest and cupboard, showing the same partly open. Fig. 2 represents a transverse vertical section of the same, and Fig. 3 represents a detached perspective view of a portion of the flour-sifting device. Fig. 4 represents a perspective view, showing the segmental recesses and the boxes partly removed from the The letter A indicates the main body of my improved chest, and B the cupboard, which forms the upper part of the device. The body A is mounted upon legs C, and below it is ar ranged a drawer, D, which slides in ways E, attached to the bottom. The interior of the body A is divided into any number of bins or receptacles for breadstuffs, and at its front is formed a narrow receptacle for the kneadingboard, F, which is adapted to be lifted vertically outof such receptacle. The rear of the bodyAis made higher than the front, and the sides are segmental in front, as indicated, and
the upper front portion of the body, near the sides, is provided with segmental partitions G, the spaces between which and the sides are adapted to contain removable segmental boxes H, having receptacles I, for spices, salt, or other materials.
Near the back of the body A, in the upper part thereof, is located a partition, K, leaving a space behind it, into which is adapted to sit the sieve L, which sits in a frame, M, hinged at one corner in an opening, N, in tlie partition, in such manner that the sieve may be swung out over the mixing-tray, when desired, or swung into the recess when not' in use. The sieve has journaled in it a rotary agitating-frame, I which is turned by a crank, Q. The front of the frame M is provided with hooks R for the rolling-pin S, and the partition K with hooks for the utensils L. The mixing-trayF rests at one side ina groove near the lower edge of the partition K and at the other side upon the top of theinner front wall of the body A, and is adapted to slide laterally back and fortl1,for convenience inreaching the bins or receptacles below, the upper edge of the kneading-board serving to confine the tray to its seat when in place.
To the upper forward edge of the main body A is hinged a folding leaf, T, which may be supported in a horizontal position by means of a swinging bracket, U, so asto form aworktable, when desired. The sides of the main body A and the segmental partitions are provided with grooves V, in which arearranged to slide the metallic covers W, which may be moved back under the cupboard to open the lower portion of the chest.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1S.-
In combination with the body of the chest and the segmental sides and partitions, the series of sliding segmental covers fitting in the segmental grooves, and each formed of two pieces or sections and having interlocking flanges, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature, in presence of two witnesses, this 5th day of August, 1882.
THOMAS J. CORR.
