1 Claim. (Cl. 132-112) This invention relates to hair curling devices, particularly of the type used for making ringlets or long curls and also for use in the home, and in particular a relatively long thin bar having teeth extended from one edge and having perforations therethrough whereby with hair wrapped around the bar and retained in position thereon by the teeth hair waving solutions may be applied to the hair and, with the solution passing through the perfora' tions the hair of the complete curl is subjected to the solution and readily retained in position for setting.

The purpose of this invention is to provide a device for forming ringlets or long curls in which means is provided for retaining the hair in an equally distributed condition along the entire curler.

Although numerous types of hair curlers have been provided and used no curler has been provided that is adapted for ringlets or long curls and whereby such curls may be formed in the home. With this thought in mind this invention contemplates an elongated border or bar having perforations therein and having teeth extended from one edge whereby hair waving solution may readily be applied to hair wrapped around the bar.

The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide means for forming a hair curler whereby the device is adapted for use in making ringlets or long curls.

Another object of the invention is to provide a curler for ringlets and long curls in which the device is adapted to be used by the average individual.

A further object of the invention is to provide a curler for making ringlets or long curls in which the device is of a simple and economical construction.

With these and other objects and advantages in view the invention embodies an elongated border or bar having spaced perforations therethrough with relatively short teeth extended from one edge and in which the device t is adapted to be provided in different lengths.

Other features and advantages of the invention will appear from the following description taken in connection with the drawing, wherein:

Figure 1 is a side elevational view of the improved ringlet curler showing the device with parts broken away.

Figure 2 is an elevational view looking toward the edge of the curler upon which the teeth are positioned.

Figure 5 is a view illustrating the curler in use showing the upper part of a curl wrapped around the curler and showing the device with the lower part thereof broken away and shown in section.

Referring now `to the drawing wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts the improved ringlet curler of this invention includes a bar 10 having perforations 11 extended therethrough and having teeth 12 extended from one edge.

The bar 10 may be provided in different lengths corresponding to the length of the curl desired and the perforations 11 which may be evenly distributed or staggered over the area of `the bar are of such a size that hair waving lotions or liquids may be held therein or may pass therethrough whereby the liquids may be equally distributed over the hair in a curl wrapped around the har.

The teeth 12 extend from points 13 to the outer ends 14 providing spaces 1S between the teeth and, as illustrated in Fig. l, the side surfaces of the teeth are inclined providing tapering teeth to facilitate winding the hair, as indicated by thel numeral 16 on the curler.

The curlers may be made of plastic, rubber, paper or metal and the curlers may be provided in different lengths with as many of the curlers as may be desired in a set.

The teeth prevent the hair wound or Wrapped on the curler spinning and unraveling.

It will be understood that modifications, within the scope of the appended claim, may be made in the design and arrangement of the parts without departing from the spirit of the invention.

What is claimed is:

In a lringlet hair curler, the combination which comprises an elongated strip of material having a plurality of staggered rows of openings positioned in said strip longitudinally thereof and having tapered slots forming tapered teeth in one edge, the rows of openings being equally distributed over the area of the strip of material providing liquid passages through the strip of material and the teeth providing means for retaining hair wrapped on the curler equally distributed throughout the length of the curler.
