v UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
I i WILLIAM H. BURGEQS, OF RICH SQUARE, NORTH CAROLINA.
I CRADLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Iietters Patent No. 281,966, dated July 24, 1883.
Application filed January ll, 1883. (No model.)
Cradle; and I do hereby declare that the fol-- lowing is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in the construction of cradle-stands; and it consists in the employment of metallic wire, several strands of which are twisted together in such manner as to form a light, durable, and inexpensive frame-work, as will be more fully hereinafter specified.
I11 the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification,in which like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts, a perspective view of my improved cradle-stand is shown.
The letter A indicates the body or main portion of the stand, said body being composed in the present instance of three strands of wire twisted or bound together. These wires radiate at each end of the body A, and form, respectively, upright standards 13 and supporting-legs C. The former terminate each in an eye, b, for a purpose which shall presently appear, and the latter are each bent downwardly, so as to rest firmly on the floor.
The letter D designates braces, the same consisting of wire, preferably smaller in dithe cradle is supported, the same consisting of 5 short sections of wire provided each with a bend near the middle, upon which they oscillate in the eyesb of the standards B. The ends of the said hangers are preferably formed into hooks which serve to engage with the devices employed in connecting the cradle therewith.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A cradlestand consisting of a plurality of wire strands twisted or bound together, the ends of which are suitably bent or directed to form the supporting-legs and standards, sub stantially as described.
2. A cradle-stand constructed of a plurality of wire strands united, and having the ends bent to form the supporting-legs and standards, and provided with braces and cradle hangers, substantially as specified.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature, in presence of two witnesses, this 1st day of J anuary, I883.
WILLIAM H. BURGESS.
