(Cl. 299 24 The present invention relates generally to a support for a diflusible substance such as a perfumed, deodorant, insecticide or disinfectant device, but more particularly to the configuration or form, construction, assembly of the device, and support therefor.

- One of the objects of the present invention is to provide a novel and improved construction of a perfumed 0r deodorant device in a novel form, preferably in the form of a polylateral solid or spheroid and mounting the same in a sealed covering and supporting said spheroid and covering between two aligned adhesively joined apertured cards.

A further object of the invention is to provide a novel and improved construction of perfumed or deodorant device in the form of a polylateral figure of three dimensions or spheroid construction sealed in a cellophane covering or bag with the polylateral or spheroid figure projecting from the opposite sides of two perforated cardboards with the projecting sealed edges of the cellophane covering positioned between the inner faces of the two apertured cards and sealed therebetween and supported therein.

These and other objects are accomplished by providing a construction and an arrangement of the various parts in the manner hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

Referring to the drawings:

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of my improved construction of a perfumed or deodorant device;

Fig. 2 is an enlarged end elevational view of the same;

Fig. 3 is an enlarged vertical cross-sectional view taken through the center thereof at right angles to the card support; and

Fig. 4 is a plan view with the cards opened or shown before their inner surfaces are sealed or glued together.

In illustrating one form my invention may assume in practice, I have shown the same as comprising a substantially rectangular card, generally indicated by the reference character 10. This card 10 is scored transversely at the center thereof, as shown at 11, so as to form substantially front and rear square cards 12 and for folding on this scored line. The cards 12 have centrally located apertures 13 which are adapted to register with one another when the rectangular card 10 is folded on the scored line 11, as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3 of the drawings. The perfumed or deodorant substance may be of any consistency such as a solid and may assume any configuration, but preferablyand more conveniently in the form of a spherical or ball-like member, as shown at 14, the outside diameter of which is substantially the same or slightly less than the apertures 13 in the card 10. The spheroid or ball 14 is mounted'in a cellophane bag, generally indicated by the reference character 15 and the open end of the bag, as shown at 16, is heat-sealed so as to completely seal and contain the perfumed or deodorant element 14. The cellophane bag 15 is tautly drawn around the spheroid 14 so as to form in effect a crinkled flange therearound as shown at 17. A glue or tacky adhesive, as shown at 18, is placed over the entire inner Patented Oct. 15, 1957 2 contacting surfaces of each of the card sections 12 so that when they are brought together, they completely seal and retain the perfumed or deodorant spheroid 14 as well as the cellophane container therebetween and permit the covered spheroid to protrude from both sides of the card sections 12 in the manner clearly shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3 of the drawings.

In forming the perfumed or deodorant ball or spheroid 14,- a string or tassel 19 is imbedded or otherwise secured therein and the outer or free end of the string is adapted to extend through an aperture 20 located in the top or adjoining edges of each of the card sections 12. The up per end of the cord 19 may be tied in a loop so that it may be easily suspended from a hook of peg 21 when in use. If it is desired to diffuse the aroma emanating from the perfumed or deodorant spheroid 14, a portion of the cellophane covering may be severed or removed therefrom by merely tearing or cutting oif a part of the covering.

From the above description it will be readily seen that with my improved construction and method of assembly, as well as the support for the perfumed or deodorant spheroid or ball, I have not only simplified the manufacture and assembly thereof, but have also provided a very simple support for the same which may be easily placed in position and readily prepared for use when so desired.

While in the above specification I have described one embodiment which my invention may assume in practice, it will, of course, be understood that the same is capable of modification and that modification may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as expressed in the following claims.

What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A perfumed device comprising a deodorant in the form of a polygonal configuration, a supporting card for said deodorant having an aperture therein of substantially the same configuration as said deodorant, and means including a tearable covering completely embracing said deodorant, laterally projecting portions formed integrally with said covering and encircling said deodorant for securing said covering and deodorant to said card, said deodorant being positioned in the aperture in said card so as to project from the opposite sides of said card.

2. A perfumed device as set forth in claim 1, wherein the tearable covering is sealed and includes crinkled portions to facilitate the removal of parts of said covering for the diffusion of said deodorant.

3. A perfumed device as set forth in claim 1, wherein the covering is formed of cellophane-like material.

4. A perfumed device comprising a deodorant in the form of a polygonal solid, a transparent sealed tearable covering wrapped around and crinkled about said deodorant for completely encasing the same, edges formed by said wrapped around covering projecting from the perimeter of said deodorant and occupying a single plane, cards having aligned apertures therein to receive said deodorant and covering with portions of the deodorant projecting from the opposite sides of said cards, and raised portions formed on said covering to facilitate the gripping and tearing of portions of said covering to permit the difiusion of said deodorant.

A suspension-type perfumed deodorant device, comprising a supporting card doubled upon itself along a transverse fold line and providing a pair of superposed card sections formed with registering openings, a solid polygonal deodorant body of substantially the same configuration as the openings, a bag of transparent cellophane-like tearable material completely embracing said body and having integral sealed edge portions projecting laterally outwardly from said body in a single plane which bisects the body into a pair of half-portions, a suspension card supporting said body and having a projecting portion, said body and said bag thereon being disposed in said registering openings, said edge portions of the bag being interposed between said sections of said card whereby the half-portions of the body project to the opposite sides of the card and permit removal of portions of the bag therefrom without removal of the body fronithc card, and adhesive securing the card sections together and the edge portions of the bag therebetween, said card being provided at the mid-point of said fold line with an aperture having the projecting portion of said cord extending outwardly therethrough.

6. A suspension-type deodorant device, comprising a card doubled upon itself along a transverse fold line and providing a pair of superposed card sections formed with a pair of substantially circular registering openings, a substantially spherical solid deodorant body, a bag of transparent cellophane-like tearable material tightly enclosing said body and having sealed edge portions projecting outwardly from the body in a single plane which bisects the body into a pair of half-portions, a suspension cord embedded in said body and having an outwardly projecting portion extending from said bag in coplanar relation with said plane of bisection, said body and said bag thereon being disposed in said registering openings, said edge portions of the bag being interposed between said sections of said card whereby the half-portions of the body project to opposite sides of the card and permit removal of portions of the bag therefrom without removal of the body from the card, and adhesive securing the card sections together and the edge portions of the bag therebetween, said card being provided at the mid-point of said fold line with an aperture having the projecting portion of said cord extending outwardly therethrough.
