- the upper portion of said screw extends freely through a hole in the top 14 of the over-V lying support member and has an enlarged head of greater diameter than that of said hole adapted to engage said top and so limit the extent of downward travel of said arm.
- the lower end of said screw loosely supports the rear end of forward larm 30 which arm extends forwardly in a generally parallel relationship to the support member to engage its forward end bearings with the arbor of front top roll 4.
- the loose support is provided by ya ball bear-l ing 32 mounted on the end of screw 2S beneath the arm 30 to permit transverse swinging movement for self-alinement of the rolls as well as vertical swinging movement.
- the forward arm passes above the forward interconnecting end member 22 of the rear arm ⁇ and is out of contact therewith.
- a pair of helical coil compression springs 34 are interposed between the upper surface -of forward larm 30 and the lower surface of top 14 of the support member thereon, such springs pressing downwardly on said arms to engage said top rolls with their cooperating bottom rolls.

- the supporting and weighting member 14 when locked into operative position overlying bottom rolls 2, 3, and 6, provides a rigid cantilever support against which loading springs 34 and 62 will be compressed to engage the top rolls with their respective bottom rolls.

- a supporting and weighting structure for a textile drafting mechanism having a plurality of pairs of top and bottom rolls positioned to act successively on a sliver, a support member overlying said bottom rolls, a plurality of weighting arms supported on said member in generally parallel relationship thereto for limited self-alining swinging movement, coil spring loading means interposed between said member and said arms for pressing a top roll engaged by an arm into cooperating relationship with its respective bottom roll, and a wedge member with a plane slanted spring seating face mounted for rotation independently of said coil spring cooperating with one end of said coil spring for correcting side force producing errors of said coil spring loading means causing lateral misalinement of said arm by rotation of said member to tilt said spring end.
- a supporting and weighting structure for a textile drafting mechanism having a plurality of pairs of top and bottom rolls positioned to act successively on a sliver, a support member overlying said bottom rolls, a plurality of weighting arms supported on said member in generally parallel relationship thereto for limited self-alining swinging movement, coil spring loading means interposed between said member and said arms for pressing a top roll engaged by an arm into cooperating relationship with its respective bottom roll, and an eccentric member mounted for eccentric rotation independently of said coil spring cooperating with one end of said coil spring for correcting side force producing errors of said coil spring loading means causing lateral misalinement of said arm by rotation of said member to displace said spring end.
