More particularly, the present invention relates to drawing mechanisms of textile machines.
In drawing mechanisms of this type it is conventional to provide a plurality of pairs of top rolls which are yieldably urged against corresponding pairs of bottom rolls to act on rovings which move along the drawing plane between the top and bottom rolls. The top frame for the top rolls is usually turnably connected to the frame for the bottom rolls and is held in an operative position by a releasable catch. in this operative position, springs or the like urge the top rolls toward the bottom rolls so that these springs transfer their force to the releasable catch which must be engaged and disengaged against the action of these springs. Many modern textiles require an extremely high pressure between the top and bottom rolls, and strong springs are provided for this purpose. These strong springs, however, malre it very diicult for the operator to engage and release the catch which holds the top roll frame in its operating position. Moreover it is sometimes necessary to move only the forwardmost pair of top rolls in order to clean the same, and this' manipulation of only the front pair o-f top rolls also is difficult to perform.
One of the objects of the present invention is to overcome the above disadvantages by providing a means for removing the influence of the springs on the releasable catch so that the latter can be very easily engaged and released.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a means for moving the top rolls, while the top roll frame remains stationary, away from the bottom rolls.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a means for moving only the front set of top rolls away from the drawing plane while the top roll frame remains stationary.
A still further object of the present invention is to provide a means for automatically maintaining the top rolls in a position spaced from the bottom rolls while the top roll frame remains in its operative position.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a structure capable of accomplishing all of the above objects and at the same time being made of relatively few, ruggedly constructed parts.
With the above objects in view, the present invention mainly consists of an apparatus for use in a textile drawing mechanism and including an elongated support means turnably mounted on a base means of the drawing mechanism for movement to and from an operating position. A rst elongated arm is turnably connected to the base means and extends along the length of the support means, this tirst arm turnably carrying a first pair of top rolls which have their axis located beneath the first arm. A second elongated arm shorter than the rst arm is located thereover and is turnably ice carrying a second set of top rolls having their axis also located beneath the rst arm. Thus, turning movement of the first arm with respect to the support means away from the drawing plane will cause this rst arm to engage the second arm and turn the same away from the drawing plane so that both sets of top rolls are moved upwardly away from the drawing plane by such movement of the rst arm.
The novel features which are considered as characteristic for the invention are set forth in particular in the appended claims. The invention itself, however, both as to its construction and its method of operation, together with additional objects and advantages thereof, will be best understood from the following description of specific embodiments when read in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which:

Referring now to the drawings and in particular to Fig. l thereof, it will be seen that the fragmentarily illustrated base 1 of the drawing mechanism has a structure 2, connected to the right end thereof as viewed in Fig. l, to which the top roll structure 3 is turnably connected, the structure 1, 2 forming a bottom frame which serves as a base means or support means for the bottom rolls and top rolls structure 3, while the latter serves as a support means for the top rolls. The drawing plane may be horizontal, as shown in Fig. 1, or
slightly inclined. At its front end the base 1 is proposition therealong by tightening nut 152 on the screw member 151, the latter being movably arranged in a longitudinal slot 1111 of stand 1t). Between the lower surface of stand 1t) and nut 152 a washer 153 is provided. Thus, the pairs of rolls 12 and 13 are movable together along the base 1 but are always maintained at a predetermined distance from each other.
The rear pair of top rolls 14 is carried by a bearing structure 15 which is also adjustable along the length of the base 1 and may be fixed thereto by tightening nut 162 on the screw member 151, the latter being movably arranged in the aforementioned slot 101 of stand 10. Between the lower surface of stand 10 and nut 162 a washer 163 is provided. Thus, the bottom rolls 14 may have their position adjusted with respect to the remaining bottom rolls. A tapered tubular guide 17 for the rovings is connected to the structure 16 for compressing the rovings as the-y pass through the guide 17 along the drawing plane.
A substantially U-shaped channel member 18 (Fig. 4) extends upwardly from the base 1 to form part of the structure 2, this member 13 being bent through approximately and carrying a pivot pin 26 at a pair of lugs which extend from the topmost part of member 18. An elongated member 24, forming part of a releasable catch device is located within the channel member 18 between the same and the base 1. The member 18 is maintained lwithrespect to frame 21.
35 xedto thev top wall of frame 21 by the rivet 41B. pair of coil springs22 and 23 extend between the memin place on the base 1 through the medium of the bolts 19 which threadedly engage the base 1, extend through plates 68, and engage lock washers 61 to press plates 6i) against member 18 and the latter against the base 1. The member 18 engages the eiongated catch member 24 to urge the same against the base 1 and fix this catch member in position, the catch member 24 being provided with elongated slots 241 through which the bolts 19 extend. Thus, the elevation of the catch member 24 may be adjusted simply by loosening the bolts 19, moving the vmember 24 up or down, and again tightening the bolts 19.
An elongated support means for the top rolls in the form of a top roll frame 21 is turnably connected to the pivot pin 2t? carried by member 18. This top roll trarne 21 is of a substantially U-shaped cross section (Fig. 3) Aand extends over the drawing plane. A catch member 25 which cooperates with the catch member 24 is of a substantially U-shape and extends about the outside of the frame 21, this catch member 25 having a tongue struck downwardly from itstop portion and extending through a suitable opening the top wall of frame 21 so that the catch 25 is turnable forwardly and rearwardly The downwardly struck Vton gue ofthe catch 25 is formed with an opening through which a leafspring 26 extends, and this leaf spring 26 Aurges -the member 25 to the position shown in Pig. l while permitting the member 25 to be turned forwardly or rear- An elongated arm 28 extends along the length of the frame 21 vand is located over the drawing plane, this arm 28 being fixed by a screw member 34 to a U-shaped lmember33 which has its opposite legs formed with openings through-which the pivot pin 29 extends, one of these Vvlegs 33 ybeing visible at the right-hand side of Figs. l and 2. Thus the arm 28 is turnable with respect to the frame '21. The -two saddle members 47 directed to the rear of the top rolls 29 are xedly connected to a second arm 46 which is pivotally connected at its right bent end to a pivot pin 50 carried by a U-shaped bracket member 51 which is turnably mounted on the pivot pin 62. This pivot pin 62 is in turn carried by the opposite sides of a substantially U-shaped, elongated channel member 48,
these opposite sides of member 48 engaging the inner sides or" frame 21 and having their lower edges resting against the inwardly bent bottom edges 211 of top frame member 21 (Fig. 3). A screw member 49 is in threaded engagement with an internally threaded sleeve lixed to the top wall of frame 21, and this screw member 49 engages the top wall of member 48, the top end of screw member 49 being formed, for example, with a slot for a screw driver so tha-t the member 49 may be loosened or tightened. A pair of stepped disc members 63 are fixed to the top side of arm 46 and are respectively located opposite another pair of stepped members 63 iixed to the underside of the top wall of member 48, and a pair of coil springs 64 and 65 extend between each pair of opposite members 63 to urge the arm 46 and the saddle members connected thereto downwardly toward the drawing plane so that the top rolls 3@ and 31 are in this way respectively urged against the ' bottom rolls 12 and 13.
The mounting of lthe member 51 for pivotal movement with respect to member 48 enables the top rolls 30 and 31 to be uniformly pressed by the springs 64 and 65 downwardly toward the drawing plane. r'he pairs of top rolls 30 and 31 are maintained at a iixed distance from each other which is equal to the ixed distance between the pairs of bottom rolls 12 and 13. As was mentioned above the pairs of bottom rolls 12 and 13 may be adjustably located on the base 21, and upon loosening of the -screw 49 which engages the member 48, this member 48 may be moved along the top frame 21 to align the top rolls 3G and 31 with the bottom rolls 12 and 13, respectively. Then this screw 49 may be tightened to x the member 48 and the top rolls 30 and 31 in their adjusted position.
To the rear of the member 48 is located a U-shaped member 54 which is identical with member 48 except that it is shorter, and this member 54 may be adjustably connected to the frame 21 in the same way as the member 48 through the medium of the right-hand screw member 49 shown in Fig. 1 and being identical with the lefthand screw member 49 discussed above. The rearmost saddle member 47 extends about the arm 28 in the same way as the two forward saddle Vmembers 47 (Fig. 3), and this rear saddle member 47 is lixedly connected to a third arm 52 also located over the arm 28 and carrying on its top side another stepped disc 63 which is located opposite a stepped disc 63 fixed to the underside of the top wall of member 54. The springs 66 and 67 extend between the members 63 respectively fixed to the . members 52 and 54 to urge the arm 52 and the top rolls 32 therewith downwardly against the rear set of top rolls 14.
Thearm `52 isprovided with a pair of upwardly struck top fingers 522 and a downwardly struck bottom finger 521 located between the lingers 522, and these fingers extend about a pivot pin 53 with clearance so that there is a certain free space between the lower finger 521 and the pin 53. In this way the springs 66 and 67 are free to urge the top rolls 32 downwardly against the bottom rolls 14 in a direction normal to the ,drawing plane. As was mentioned above the bearing structure 16 which carries the bottom roll 14 may be adjustable along the length of the base 1, and the right-hand screw 49 of Fig. 1 may be loosened to free the member 54 for corresponding movement along the top frame 21 to correlate the location of the top rolls 32 to that of the bottom rolls 14. The right-hand screw 49 can then be tightened to maintain the member 54 and top rolls 32 in their adjusted position.
The front rivet 40 located adjacent the front end of the top frame 21 xedly connects to this top frame an angle member 41 which carries a pivot pin 43 to which an elongated lever 42 is lturnably connected. This elongated lever 42 in turn carries a pivot pin 44 to which an elongated stop member 45 is pivotally connected, this member 45 extending downwardly from the lever 42 in a direction substantially normal to the drawing plane, as shown in Fig. l. The stop member 45 is formed with an opening 451 through which the arm 2S freely extends. Thus, this stop member will limit the downward movement of the arm 28 with respect to the top frame 21, for example, when the catch member is released and the top frame 21 is raised about the pivot 20 from its operating position shown in Fig. l.
The stop member 45 is, however, intended to adjust the location of the arm 28 independentlyot the release of the catch means 24, 25. The parts are shown in their operating position in Fig. l. it is evident that when the lever 42 is turned from its rest position extending along the length of frame 21, as shown in Fig. l, in a counterclockwise direction about pivot 43, as viewed in Fig. l,
- the stop means 45 will be raised in a direction normal to the drawing plane and will engage the arm 28 to move the latter through a short distance upwardly about the pivot and with respect to the top frame 21 while the latter remains stationary and while the catch means 24, is in its engaged position shown in Fig. l.
During such turning movement of the lever 42, which serves as a control and moving means for controlling the position of the stop means and moving the same, the part of lever 42 to which the pivot pin 44 is connected moves from that side of pivot pin 43 shown in Fig. l to the opposite side thereof, as is evident from Fig. 2, and in this way the force of the springs which bear against the arms 23, 46 and 52 maintains the stop member 45 in its end position shown in Fig. 2 where the lever 42 is also located in its operating position. Thus, this arrangement provides a means for automatically maintaining the arm ig? in an upwardlly raised position against the stop means This upward movement of the stop means 45 and arm 2S compresses the several springs and the arm 28 engages the several saddle members 47 to raise the latter and the top rolls connected thereto. Thus, when the catch means 24, 25 is still engaged and when the lever v 42 has been turned until the stop means 45 engages the pin 43 (Fig. 2), then the top rolls are all out of engagement with the bottom rolls and the pressure of the springs 22, 23 and 64-67 no longer is transferred to the catch means 24, 25 so that the latter may be very easily released. Then the top rolls and their associated structure may be turned upwardly from the operating position shown in Fig. l to or beyond the position shown in Fig. 2. The parts connected to the frame 2l also remain in the position shown in Fig. 2 when the top rolls are returned to their operating positions, and the catch means 24, 25 is thus very easy to again become engaged, the member 27 simply Sliding over the catch portion 242 of member 24. Then the lever 42 is returned to its rest position shown in Fig. l so that the arm 28 is lowered and all of the top rolls are pressed against the bottom rolls.
It should be noted that it is not always necessary to move lever 42 completely through its entire stroke to the position shown in Fig. 2. Many times it is necessary to clean only the front pair of top rolls 29, and in order to release these top rolls it is only necessary to turn the lever 42 through part of its entire stroke which causes the member 45 to raise the arm 28 only suiciently to lift the front pair of top rolls 29 without affecting the remaining top rolls 3i), 31 and 32. In this way the apparatus of the invention may be used for removing the pressure of all of the top rolls from all the bottom rolls or only the front top rolls from the front bottom rolls.
It is believed to be evident that the above described structure makes it very easy to move the top frame 21 to and from its operating position by engaging and releasing the catch means 24, 25, even though the force of the springse 22, 23 and 64-67 are quite strong, because the structure of the invention provides a simple and effective means for very quickly removing the inuence of these springs from the catch means.
lt will be understood that each of the elements described above, or two or more together, may also iind a useful application in other types of drawing mechanisms for textile machines diiering from the types described above. l,
While the invention has been illustrated and described as embodied in top roll arrangement of drawing mechanisms for textile machines, it is not intended to be limited to the details shown, since various modifications and structural changes may be made without departing in any way from the spirit of the present invention.
Without further analysis, the foregoing will so fully reveal the gist of the present invention that others can by applying current knowledge readily adapt it for various applications without omitting features that, from the standpoint of prior art, fairly constitute essential characteristics of the generic or specic aspects of this invention and, therefore, such adaptations should and are intended to be comprehended within the meaning and range of equivalence of the following claims.
What is claimed as new and desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:
l. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, base means; elongated support means turnably mounted on said base means for movement to and from an operating position; a rst elongated arm turnably connected to said base means and extending along the length of said support means; a iirst pair of top rolls turnably carried by said rst arm and having their axis located beneath the same; a second elongated arm shorter than said i'lrst arm and being located thereover and turnably connected to said support means; a second pair of top rolls carried by said second arm and having their axis located beneath said irst arm; spring means located between said arms and support means to urge said arms and rolls carried thereby downwardly with respect to said support means; stop means carried by said support means for movement toward and away from the drawing plane and being located adjacent to said rst arm to limit the movement thereof with respect to said support means; and control means connected to said stop means for moving the same to control the position thereof with respect to the drawing plane and for holding said stop means in an end position most distant from the drawing plane.
2. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, base means; elongated support means turnably mounted on said base means for movement to and from an operating position; a rst elongated arm turnably connected to said base means and extending along the length of said support means; a rst pair of top rolls carried by said irst arm and having their axis located beneath the same; a second elongated arm shorter than said rst arm and being located thereover and turnably connected to said support means; a second pair of top rolls carried by said second arm and having their axis located beneath said first arm; spring means located between said arms and support means to urge said arms and rolls carried thereby downwardly with respect to said support means; stop means carried by said support means for movement toward and away from the drawing plane and being located adjacent to said rst arm to limit the movement thereof with respect to said support means; and control means connected to said stop means for moving the same to control the position thereof with respect to the drawing 7 plane and for holding said stop means in an end position most distantfrom the drawing plane, said control means being in the form of a vlever turnably connected to said support means and being pivotally connected to said stop means.
3. ln a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, base means; elongated support means turnably mounted on said base means for movement to and from an operating position; a first elongated arm turnably connected to said base means and extending along the length of said support means; a first pair of top rolls turnably carried by said first arm and having their axis located beneath the same; a second elongated arm shorter than said first arm and being located thereover yand connected to said support means; a second pair of top rolls carried by said second arm and having their axis located beneath said first arm; spring means located between said arms and support means lto urge said arms and rolls carried thereby downwardly with respect to said support means; stop means carried by said support means for movement toward and away from the drawing plane and being located adjacent to said iirst arm to limit the movement thereof with respect to said support means; and control means connected to said stop means for moving the same ,to control the position thereof with respect to the drawing plane and for holding said stop means in an end position -most distant from the drawing plane, said control means being in the form of a lever turnably connected to said support means and being pivotally connected to said stop means, said stop means engaging said first arm during movement of said stop means to said end position thereof and moving said rst arm against the action of said spring means upwardly away from the drawing plane.
4. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, frame means; elongated support means turnably mounted on said frame means for movement to and from an operating position; a first elongated arm turnablyvconnected to said frame means and extending along the length of said support means; a first pair of top rolls carried by said first arm and having their axis located beneath the same; a second elongated arm shorter than said first arm and being located thereover and turnably connected to said support means; a pair of saddle members fixed to said second arm and being spaced from each otherV and each extending downwardly from said second arm on opposite sides of said first arm; and second and third pairs of top rolls turnably carried by said pair of saddle members, respectively, and each having its axis located beneath said first arm` 5. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, a
bottom frame; at least two pairs of bottom rolls turnably carried by said bottom frame; an elongated top frame turnably connected to said bottom frame for movement about a predetermined axis and extending over said bottom rolls; an elongated first arm turnably connected to one of said frames adjacent said axis, extending along said top frame and being located over said bottom rolls; a first pair of top rolls engaging one of said pair of bottom rolls and being carried by said rst arm; a second arm turnably connected to said top frame and being located over said first arm on the opposite side thereof from said 'bottom rolls; a second pair of top rolls carried by said second arm and engaging the other of said pairs of bottom rolls; spring means located between said arms and top frame to urgethe latter about said axis away from said arms; and releasable catch means interconnecting said bottom and top frames and releasably restraining said top frame against movement about said axis under the inliuence of said spring means so that the latter urges said arms and first and second pairs of top rolls therewith downwardly toward said bottom rolls, whereby turning of said first arm upwardiy away from said bottom rolls compresses said spring means to remove the inuence thereof from said catch means so that the latter may be easily released.
6. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, a bottom frame; at least two pairs of bottom rolls turnably carried by said bottom frame; an elongated top frame turnably connected to said bottom frame for moverent about a predetermined axis and extending over said bottom rolls; an elongated iirst arm turnably connected to one of said frames adjacent said axis, extending along said top frame and being located over said bottom rolls; a first pair of top rolls engaging one of said pair of bottom rolls and being carried by said first arm; a second arm turnably connected to said top frame and being located over said rst arm on the opposite side thereof from said bottom rolls; a second pair of top rolls carried by said second arm and engaging the other of said pairs of bottom rolls; spring means located between said arms and top frame to urge the latter about said axis away 'from said arms; releasable catch means interconnecting said bottom and top frames and releasably restraining said top frame against movementabout said axis under the influence of said Spring means so that the latter urges said arms and first and second pairs of top rolls therewith ydownwardly toward said bottom rolls, whereby turning of said rst arm upwardly away from said bottom rolls compresses said spring means to remove the inuence thereof from said catch means so that the latter may be easily released; an elongated stop member extending in a direction substantially normal to the drawing-plane and being formed with an opening through which said first arm extends; and moving means connected to said top frame and stop member for moving the latter upwardly away from said drawing plane so that said stop member engages said first arm to move the same with respect to said top frame against the action of said spring means.
7. In atextile drawing mechanism, in combination, a bottom frame; at least two pairs of bottom rolls turnably carried by said bottom frame; an elongated top frame turnably connected to said bottom frame for movement about a predetermined axis and extending over said bottom rolls; an elongated iirst arm turnably connected to one of said frames adjacent said axis, extending along said top frame and being located over said bottom rolls; a first pair of top rolls engaging one of said pair of bottom rolls and being carried by said first arm; a second arm turnably connected to said top frame and being located over said rst arm on the opposite side thereof from said bottom rolls; a second pair of top rolls carried by said second arm and engaging the other of said pairs of bottorn rolls; spring means located between said arms and top frame to urge the latter about said axis away from said arms; releasable catch means interconnecting said bottom and top frames and releasably restraining said top frame against movement about said axis under the influence of said spring means so that the latter urges said arms and first and second pairs of top rolls therewith downwardly toward said bottom rolls, whereby turning of said first arm upwardly away from said bottom rolls compresses said spring means to remove the inuence thereof from said catch means so that the latter maybe easily released; an elongated stop member extending in a direction substantially normal to the drawing plane and being formed with an opening through which said rst arm extends; and moving means connected to said top frame and stop member for moving the latter upwardly away from said drawing plane so that said stop member engages said first arm to move the same with respect to said top frame against the action of said spring means, said moving means being in the form of a lever turnably connected at one part thereof to said top frame and turnably connected at another part thereof to said stop member.
8. in a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, a bottom frame; at least two pairs of bottom rolls turnably carried by said bottom frame; an elongated top frame turnably connected to said bottom frame formovement about a predetermined axis and extending over said bottom rolls; an elongated first arm turnably connected to one of said frames adjacent said axis, extending along said top frame and being located over said bottom rolls; a first pair of top rolls engaging one of said pair of bottom rolls and being carried by said first arm; a second arm turnably connected to said top frame and being located over said first arm on the opposite side thereof from said bottom rolls; a second pair of top rolls carried by said second arm and engaging the other of said pairs of bottom rolls; spring means located between said arms and top frame to urge the latter about said axis away from said arms; releasable catch means interconnecting said bottom and top frames and releasably restraining said top frame against movement about said axis under the influence of said spring means so that the latter urges said arms and first and second pairs of top rolls therewith downwardly toward said bottom rolls, whereby turning of said rst arm upwardly away from said bottom rolls compresses said spring means to remove the influence thereof from said catch means so that the latter may be easily released; an elongated stop member extending in a direction substantially normal to the drawing plane and being formed with an opening through which said first arm extends; and moving means connected to said top frame and stop member for moving the latter upwardly away from said drawing plane so that said stop member engages said first arm to move the same with respect to said top frame against the action of said spring means, said moving means being in the form of a lever turnably connected at one part thereof to said top frame and turnably connected at another part thereof to said stop member, said lever being turna'ole on said top frame between a rest position, where said lever extends along said top frame with said other part thereof located on one side of said one part thereof and with said stop member located in a first end position nearest to the drawing plane, and an operating position, where said lever extends upwardly away from said top frame with said other part of said lever located at a side of said one part opposite from said one side thereof and with said stop member located in a second end position furthest from the drawing plane, the location of said other part of said lever on said opposite side of said one part thereof causing said spring means to maintain said lever in said operating position thereof and said stop member in said second end position thereof.
9. In a textile drawing mechanism in combination, first support means; second elongated support means turnably mounted on said first support means for movement to and from an operating position; a first elongated arm turnably connected to said first support means and extending along the length of said second support means; a first pair of top rolls carried by said first arm; a second elongated arm shorter than said first arm, located thereover, and connected to said second support means for movement toward and away from the drawing plane; a second pair of top rolls carried by said second arm; and stop means carried by said second support means and located adjacent said rst arm to limit movement thereof with respect to said second support means when the latter is turned upwardly away from the drawing plane, said first arm limiting movement of said second arm toward the drawing plane during movement of said second support means way from the drawing plane.

In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, first support means; second, elongated support means turnably mounted on said first support means for movement to and from an operating position; a first elongated arm turnably connected to one of said support means and extending along the length of said second support means; a first pair of top rolls carried by said first arm; a second elongated arm shorter than said first arm and being located thereover and turnably connected to said second support means; second and third pairs of top rolls carried by said second arm; spring means located between each of said arms and said second support means for independently urging said arms toward the drawing plane; and stop means carried by said second support means for limiting the movement of said rst arm toward the drawing plane.

In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, a base; a support member xed to and extending upwardly from said base; elongated support means turnably mounted on said support member for movement to and from an operating position where said support means extends over the drawing plane; first elongated top roll carrying means also carried turnably by said support mem ber, said first top roll carrying means extending along the length of said elongated support means; second top roll carrying means turnably carried by said elongated support means over said first top roll carrying means; catch means for releasably holding said support means in said operating position thereof, said catch means including a pair of cooperating catch members one of which is fixed to said base and the other of which is carried by said elongated support means; and means for adjusting the elevation of said support member and said one catch member so that the position of said support means with respect to the drawing plane may be adjusted.

In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, first support means; second elongated support means turnably mounted on said first support means for movement to and from an operating position; a rst elongated arm turnably connected to one of said support means and extending along the length of said second support means; a first pair of top rolls carried by said first arm; a second elongated arm extending over said first arm and connected to said second support means for movement toward and away from the drawing plane; a second pair of top rolls carried by said second arm; and stop means carried by said second support means and located adjacent said first arm to limit the movement thereof with respect to said second support means when the latter is turned upwardly away from the drawing plane, said first arm limiting movement of said second arm toward the drawing plane during movement of said second support means away from the drawing plane.
13. In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, first support means; second elongated support means turnably mounted on said first support means for movement to and from an operating position; a first elongated arm turnably connected to one of said support means and extending along the length of said second support means; a first pair of top rolls carried by said first arm; a second elongated arm extending over said first arm and connected to said second support means for movement toward and away from the drawing plane; a second pair of top rolls carried by said second arm; urging means urging said arms downwardly toward the drawing plane and said second support means upwardly away from the drawing plane when said second support means is in said operating position thereof; releasable catch means interconnecting said rst and second support means for maintaining the latter in said operating position against the inuence of said urging means, whereby when said first arm is turned upwardly away from the drawing plane against the influence of said urging means said second arm is engaged by said rst arm to be moved thereby also against the inuence of said urging means away from the drawing plane and the influence of said urging means on said catch means is removed so that said catch means may be easily released.

In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, first support means; second elongated support means turnably mounted on said first support means for movement to and from an operating position; a first elongated arm turnably connected to one of said support means` and extending along the length of said second support means for movement between a lower operative position and an upper inoperative position with respect to said second support means when the latter is in said operating position thereof; a second elongated arm extending over said rst arm and connected to said second support means for movement toward and away from the drawing plane, said second arm also having'a lower operative position and an upper inoperative position with respect to said second support means when the latter is in said operating position thereof and said second arm being moved to its upper inoperative position by said irst arm when the latter is moved to its upper inoperative position; stop means carried by said second support means for movelment toward and away from the drawing plane, being located adjacent said iirst arm to limit the movement thereof with respect to said second support means, and, during movement away from the drawing plane, engaging said first arm and moving the latter to its upper inoperative position; and first and second pairs of top rolls respectively carried by said first and second arms.

In a textile drawing mechanism, in combination, rst support means; second elongated support means mounted on said iirst support means for movement to and from an operating position, said second support means having a rear end portion connected with said rst support means and a free front end portion; a first elongated arm extending along the length of said second support means, having a rear end portion turnably connected to one of said support means and having a free front end portion; a second arm connected to said second support means for movement toward and away from the drawing plane, extending over said rst arm, and having a front end portion located rearwardly of said frontend portion of said rst arm at a greater distance from said front end portion of said second support means than said front end portion of said iirst arm, so that when said first arm is turned upwardly away from the drawing plane said second arm will be engaged by said Airst arm to be moved thereby also upwardly away from the drawing plane; and rst and second pairs of top rolls respectively carried by said rst and second arms.
