Claims priority, application Sweden March 3, 1954 3 Claims. (Cl. 259-144) The present invention relates to an agitator, particularly intended for whipping cream and scrambling eggs and whose agitating means are tubes or the like provided with discharge headers, said tubes being preferably arranged for connection with a compressed air source through a hollow handle part. The essentially characteristic feature of the invention is that the tubes consist of coil springs tightly spun, the discharge headers being the openings between the difierent coils of the spring wire, which openings have been obtained through the bending of the coil springs.
Further objects and advantages will become apparent from the following detailed description, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing showing an embodiment, chosen by way of example, of the agitator according to the present invention.

The agitator consists of a hollow handle portion 1, provided at one end with a connection piece 2 for a hose or the like threaded onto said end, through which hose compressed air can be supplied to the agitator from a compressed air source. Onto the other end of the handle portion a support 3 for a number of tightly spun coil springs 4 is threaded.
The support 3 is provided at its front end with a number of holes 5, into which the coil springs 4 are inserted. For good sealing the support 3, which is bowl-shaped, is provided at its bottom with a sealing mass 8, which does not reach the free ends 6 of the coil springs 4, said ends being spaced from the bottom of the container 3. Above said ends 6 the support 3 is provided with an exchangeable filter 7, which prevents impurities from entering the coil springs.
According to the embodiment shown, the tightly spun coil springs are bent to loops or to U-shape, and the two 2,798,702 Patented July 9, 1957 ends 6 of the latter, which are open, are inserted into the support 3, so that the coil springs 4 are supplied with compressed air at both ends. Owing to the bent shape of the coil springs 4 a great many openings are formed between the different coils of the spring wires, which openings serve as discharge headers. According to another embodiment of the invention only one of the ends 6 of the coil springs 4 tightly spun can be inserted into the support 3, whilst the other ends must be closed. When the coil springs 4 are bent during whipping, discharge headers are also formed between the different coils of wire.
The tightly spun coil springs 4 are preferably pretensioned so as to have the desired resiliency. It is also suitable to strengthen the coil springs 4 through piano wires 9 arranged disposed inside them. As the support 3 is removably mounted at the handle portion 1 it can easily be exchanged for another support with a greater or smaller number of agitating means, so that the capacity of the agitator can be altered.
In case of whipping, the agitator need only be rotated slowly in the medium to be whipped. The principal whipping is therefore achieved by the air which leaves the openings formed between the wire coils in the shape of very small bubbles. Owing to the tightly spun coil springs 4 being of a yielding character the whipping can take place in any vessel without risking that the medium will not be completely whipped.
The invention is not restricted to the features described above and shown in the drawing but can be varied in many ways within the scope of the appendant claims.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. An agitator for use in whipping cream and scrambling eggs comprising a hollow handle having a connection on one end thereof forconnecting it to a source of compressed air, and a plurality of agitators in the form of tightly spun coil springs each having at least one end inserted in said hollow handle and having said at least one end open to permit compressed air to enter said coil springs, at least one of said plurality of springs being bent into a loop, and both ends of said looped spring being inserted into said hollow handle and being open.
2. An agitator as claimed in claim 1 in which said springs are pre-tensioned.
3. An agitator as claimed in claim 2 and a highly re silient wire extending through each of said springs acting as an interior reinforcement therefor.
