A primary object of this invention is to provide provements in paper roll dispensers wherein whiie theexi pendedroll of paper may be easily re; roved'romtue cabinet, at the same time means is provid-ed whereby the mechanism is temporarily urged during dispensing operation to a position wherein a newly placed roll -rnay not be accidently displaced or removed from the cabinet.

However, when the rearward ends of the arms are outwardly swung, insufficient space is left to permit the spindle`36 from being disengaged.
The spring 86 does, however, act as a shock absorber as the uppermost roll of paper is dropped thereon. To further aid in absorbing the shock as the uppermost roll of paper is dropped, a yoke 100 is provided. This yoke is secured at its lower end to the links 44 and extends upwardly around on opposite sides of the shafts 47 for connection to a rod 102 which projects into the cylinder member 104 and has secured at its uppermost end a resilient piston assembly 106 in a manner shown most clearly in Figure 4. The upper end of the cylinder 104 Y is provided with a bleed passage 108 and a screw valve 110 associated therewith such as to guide the rapidity with which the piston 106 may be moved upwardly in the cylinder. The cylinder is held by a colla1 or sleeve 112 and an associated set screw 114 for initially adjusting the position of the cylinder.
VReferring now more particularly to Figures 6-8 wherein the modified form of the invention is shown, it will be seen that the cabinet 120 in this case'is recessed into the wall structure 122, it being appreciated that the cabinet may be disposed flush therewith as desired. The cabinet 120 consists of a front wall 124, a rear wall 126, a bottom wall 128, a top wall 130 with the lower portion of the front wall being open and the side walls notched away v as at 132 to permit access to the roll and with the top portion of the front wall being open and having associated therewith a hinged cover member 134 in the manner Shown. The cover may be provided with a knob 136 which is rotatable and has attached to its inner end a lateral projecting latch member 138 so that rotation of the knob will effect latching of the cover or door member.
Like the modification shown in Figure 1, the cabinet assembly 120 is provided with guide members 140 and 142, the former of which is angularly oiset as at 144 such that a paper roll may be disposed thereon in the manner shown in dotted lines.
V'The actuator shaft 146, the support arms 148 and the links 150 with the exception that the yoke members 100 previously described and their associated cylinder and piston assemblies are omitted, are identical to those previously described.
In the case of the modiiications shown in Figures 6-8, the shock absorber assemblage incorporates a star wheel mechanism indicated generally by the reference character 160.
The shock absorber mechanism consists of a pair of star wheel members mounted on a common shaft 162 and connected together by any suitable means such as a plurality of rods 164 extending therebetween which form abutment means against which a spring 166 engages. 'Ihe spring 166 is of cantilever construction and is intended to resist the rotation of the star wheel assemblage, it being noted that one finger or point 168V of the star Wheels are always projected between the track members 140and 142 such as to catch the spindle ends of the paperY roll as it is dropped duringV the dispensing operation. f
abutting engagement with the lower notched iirst portion of the actuator shafts. Each link portion 170 and 172 has a collar 174 or 176 rigidly attached thereto and one of the collars has rigidly secured in depending fashion thereto a plurality of plunger or rod members 178 which slidably project through the other collar member in the manner illustrated most clearly in Figure .7. 'I'he adjacent ends of the shaft portions 170 and 172 are disposed in spaced relation and a coil spring 180 is disposed between the two collars 174 and 176 to normally maintain in the spaced apart relation shown.
From the foregoing, the construction and operation of the device will be readily understood and further explanation is believed to be unnecessary. However, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the appended claims.
What is claimed as new is as follows:
1. A-paper roll holder comprising a cabinet including a front wall, a rear wall, opposite side walls and having an open bottom, vertical track members secured to said side walls and adapted to guidably receive opposite ends of a paper roll spindle, a pair of horizontal support arms pivotally secured intermediate their ends to said side walls, each of said support arms having one end portion underlying a corresponding track member, a pair of horizontal actuator shafts slidably received in said front wall, each of said shafts having an inner end portion projecting into a corresponding track member to support a reserve paper roll, a vertical link pivotally secured to the other end of each of said support arms, a spring loaded plunger carried at the upper end of each link and engaged against a corresponding actuator shaft.
2. A paper roll dispenser comprising a cabinet including a front wall and opposite side walls and having Yan open bottom portion, pairs of vertical guide members secured to said side walls, a support-arm pivotally secured to each side wall intermediate its ends and having one end underlying corresponding guide members, actuator shafts slidably received in said front wall and projecting through one of each pair of guide members to a point closely adjacent the other, links pivotally connected'to the other ends of said support arms and releasably engaged at their upper ends in recesses in said actuator shafts, whereby retraction of said shafts will permit said support arms to swing toward the lower ends of said guide members.

A paper roll holder comprising a cabinet including a front wall, a rear wall, opposite side walls and having an open bottom, vertical trackmembers secured to said walls and adapted to guidably receive opposite ends of a paper roll spindle, a pair of horizontal support arms pivotally secured intermediate their ends to said side walls, each of said support arms having one end portion underlying a corresponding track member, a pair of horizontal actuator shafts slidably received in said front wall, each of said shafts having an inner end portion projecting into a corresponding track member to support a reserve paper roll, a vertical link pivotally secured to the other end of each of said support arms, a spring loaded plunger carried at, the upper end of each and shock absorbing means Yconnected with said links.

A paper roll dispenser comprising a cabinet includ ing a front wall and opposite side walls and having an open bottom portion, pairs of vertical guide members secured to said side walls, a support arm pivotally secured to each side wall intermediate its ends and having one end underlying corresponding guide members, actuator shafts slidably received in said front wall and projecting through one of each pair of guide members to a point closely adjacent the other, links pivotally connected to the other ends of said support arms and releasably engaged at their upper ends in recesses in said actuator shafts, whereby retraction of said shafts will permit said support arms to swing toward the lower ends of said guide members, and shock absorbing means connected with said links.

A paper roll holder comprising a cabinet including a front wall, a rear wall, opposite side walls and having an open bottom, vertical track members secured to said side walls and adapted to guidably receive opposite ends of a paper roll spindle, a pair of horizontal support arms pivotally secured intermediate their ends to said side walls, each of said support arms having one end portion underlying a corresponding track member, a pair of horizontal actuator shafts slidably received in said front wall, each of said shafts having an inner end portion projecting into a corresponding track member to support a reserve paper roll, a vertical link pivotally secured to the other end of each of said support arms, a spring loaded plunger carried at the upper end of each link and engaged against a corresponding actuator shaft, a cylinder secured to each side wall, a piston, slidable in each cylinder, connected with each link, and an air bleed passage in each cylinder.

A paper roll dispenser comprising a cabinet including a front wall and opposite side walls and having an open bottom portion, pairs of vertical guide members secured to said side walls, a support arm pivotally secured to each side wall intermediate its ends and having one end underlying corresponding guide members, actuator shafts slidably received in said front wall and projecting through one of each pair of guide members to a point closely adjacent the other, links pivotally connected to the other ends of said support arms and releasably engaged at their upper ends in recesses in said actuator shafts, whereby retraction of said shafts will permit said support arms to swing toward the lower ends of said guide members, a cylinder secured to each side wall, a piston, slidable in each cylinder, connected with each link, and an air bleed passage in each cylinder.

A paper roll holder comprising a cabinet including a front wall, a rear Wall, opposite side walls and having an open bottom, vertical track members secured to said side walls and adapted to guidably receive opposite ends of a paper roll spindle, a pair of horizontal support arms pivotally secured intermediate their ends to said side walls, each of said support arms having one end portion underlying a corresponding track member, a pair of horizontal actuator shafts slidably received in said front wall, each of said shafts having an inner end portion projecting into a corresponding track member to support a reserve paper roll, a Vertical link pivotally secured to the other end of each of said support arms, a spring loaded plunger carried at the upper end of each link and engaged against a corresponding actuator shaft, and a shock absorbing means associated with said track members, said shock absorbing means including a star Wheel rotatably mounted adjacent said track members, and means for resisting rotation of said star wheel.

A paper roll dispenser comprising a cabinet including a front wall and opposite side walls and having an open bottom portion, pairs of vertical guide members secured to said side walls, a support arm pivotally secured to each side wall intermediate its ends and having one end underlying corresponding guide members, acuator shafts slidably received in said front wall and projecting through one of each pair of guide members to a point closely adjacent the other, links pivotally connected to the other ends of said support arms and releasably engaged at their upper ends in recesses in said actuator shafts, whereby retraction of said shafts will permit said support arms to swing toward the lower ends of said guide members, and a shock absorbing means associated with said track members, said shock absorbing means including a star wheel rotatably mounted adjacent said track members, and means for resisting rotation of said star wheel.

A paper roll holder comprising an enclosure having an open bottom and opposite side walls, Vertical guide means on each side wall and adapted to guidingly receive opposite ends of a paper roll spindle, a pair of horizontal support arms pivotally secured to said side walls, each of said support arms having a portion underlying a corresponding guide means, a pair of horizontal actuator shafts slidably mounted in said cabinet, each of said shafts having an inner end portion projecting into a corresponding guide means to support a reserve paper roll, a link extending between each of said support arms and a corresponding actuator shaft for locking the shafts against movement while a paper roll is carried by the support arms.
