Description
DAVIS &ISGR OGGI NS.
Plow.
No. 27,619. I Patented Mar 27.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
BALDWIN DAVIS AND J. M. SGR-OGGIN, OF LA GRANGE, GEORGIA.
IMPROVEMEN T IN PLOWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 27,619, dated March 27, 1860.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, BALDWIN DAVIS and JAMES M. SOROGGIN, of La Grange, in the county of Troup and State of Georgia, have invented a new and Improved Plow; and we do hereby declare that the followingisafnll, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making part of the same, in which like letters refer to like parts in each of the figures.
Figure 1 is a perspective View, and Figs. 2, 3, and 4 are detached views of various parts of the plow.
In the drawings, A represents the handles; B, the standard that supports the handles; U, the shank or standard of the plow, with notches D in frontfor the purpose of adjusting and regulating the depth of the plow.
E is a wrdge to secure the standard firmly in the beam,
F is a metallic plate, placed on the upper side of the beam to form a durable catch for the indentations or notches D in the metallic shank O.
G is a brace running from the beam, near the front of the standard B, to the back and lower part of the standard or shank G, where indentations or recesses are formed for the purpose of receiving projections on the brace, thus securing the brace in position and adapting it so as to conform to the different adjustments of the plow.
I is the diamond-shaped point for subsoiling.
J is an adjustable moldboard attached to the standard 0, and secured in place by bolts having screws and rivets on the ends passing through the standard and oblong slots in the flange connected with the mold-board.
K is a groove that receives the flange of the mold-board, and L is the plow-beam.
The above forms a cheap and effective plow, which is easily kept in repair-qualities which are of great importance in many sections of the country.
What we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- a The combination of the beam L, plate F, shank G, notches D, and wedge E with the adjustable brace Gr, subsoil-point I, and adjust able mold-board J, the whole beingconstructed and arranged as and for the purpose described.
